The Lubbock Police Department would like to address the concerns of the public regarding case 21-43709, which is currently being investigated by the Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit.

Lubbock Police Officers were called to the 2100 block of 90th Street on Friday, November 5th at 4:20 p.m. for reports of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers found 54-year-old Chad Read deceased on the scene.

Through the initial course of the investigation, it appears there was a verbal altercation between Read and another male related to a domestic incident that turned physical. Shortly after, shots were fired.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is on-going.

I think this is justifiable. Guy grabbed the gun.

Domestic disturbances are the worst.

There isn't enough information in your link, doofus.......it doesn't say anything about the actual shooting...

If the deceased voted for Biden, it was self defense. If not, it was 1st degree murder

Uh... no... he just committed murder and in TX that means his life expectancy is greatly reduced.
As soon as distance was created between the two of them AND the bigger guy didn't try to close that distance, the little man was no longer justified. He murdered him.

But the bigger guy was grabbing his gun. What if he took the gun away, he could've shot him.

Had the little guy fired while they were struggling for the weapon, I'd agree. He was at least 2 steps away, no other weapon was involved and the big guy wasn't trying to close the distance. The homeowner had a right to defend his life and property but unless that guy was trying to re-engage, this was murder or at least some level of intentional homicide.

I just saw this extra info which may explain why there haven't been any charges yet:

LUBBOCK, Texas — A police report Tuesday revealed no new details in the shooting and killing of Chad Read, 54, Friday in the 2100 block of 90th Street. Numerous sources indicated the person who fired the shots is closely tied to a State District Judge in Lubbock.

Yeah, nah, this little bastard took his time, aimed and double tapped the guy who had pissed him off.

That was a rage killing and nothing more. He's toast in court for Murder.

Sorry, but no. Guy coming to pick up his son only used words and made no physically threatening gestures. Guy in black shirt escalated and brought out gun when he heard about possibility of court involvement if father's rights weren't respected.

Case closed. Murder 1.

RIP. Very sad story for everyone involved.

Each year, guns are used in over 10,000 murders and over 20,000 suicides in USA.

Definitely a sad story. Heartbreaking.

But what's the point of your quote about guns used in murders and suicides? This new mRNA coronavirus "vaccination" has killed well over 32,000 in the USA just in the 6-8 months it has been widely available. People seem to be going along with that as a necessary risk to protect "the rest of us"...

I wonder what chances would be for the shooter to be acquitted after the trial if there hadn't been a witness with her phone camera? Considering the other man seemed to be on property of the shooter.

I looked up the name and got this article and there is a clear video of the incident according to the article, so I do question if it was murder or not…

The ex-Husband was requested to leave the property and the ex-Husband still got into a verbal altercation and it look like a possible physical altercation after the boyfriend of the ex-wife fired a warning shot into the ground…

Grabbing for the gun was his biggest mistake on private property after being told to leave, so I hate to say it but the father got what he deserved.

The State will review it but I can’t see any charges brought…
