AMITE COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Amite County deputies announced a man was arrested in connection to an ATV crash that killed a 10-year-old boy.

Investigator Danny Meaux, with the Amite County Sheriff’s Office, said the incident occurred on Old 24 Compromise Road between 11:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. on April 6, 2025.

According to Meaux, the victim, Jordan Hill, was on an ATV when he was hit by a truck.

Investigators said the suspect, Cody Rollinson, was arrested the day of the incident. He was charged with possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and felony leaving the scene of an accident.

Rollinson made his initial appearance in court last week, and his bond was set at $41,000. He is currently out on bond.

According to Meaux, investigators are waiting on the results of a toxicology report, and additional charges are pending. Several agencies, including the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), are assisting with the investigation.

Why isn't he being charged with murder, especially since he left the scene?

Why was such a low bond given after he took the life of a 10yr old child?

LOL

The greater charges require information and belief, or an indictment.

They can always upgrade whatever charges they have on him now, SBB.
They are probably gathering all the evidence along with the toxicology results
before they make their decision. Murder, Manslaughter, Homicidal Manslaughter, etc.
I'm sure they want to get the right charges to go along with the Hit and Run charge.

Perhaps it's because he didn't fight with the police nor tell them he had a right to kill the child and any prosecution is racist.

Throw him in prison for the rest of his sorryass life!
I have absolutely ZERO compassion for intoxicated drivers.

So a 10 yo is out on a road driving an ATV; no license perchance? Yes; very sad but why was he on THE ROAD!!!

Are Quads Bike Road Legal in Australia?

Yes, in Australia, ATVs generally require a license to be driven on public roads, and they need conditional registration. You need a Car (Class C) license to drive a quad bike or ATV.

So the kid was illegally using an ATV; sounds more like a Darwin Award. I'd be charging the parents as well; leaving the scene is still a crime. (Was the kid a passenger; who else was in the ATV???)

Notice this idiot didn't have one thing to say about the POS that struck this kid and left him dead.

You moron; the guy is CHARGED and is awaiting trial. Let JUSTICE take its course. So you'd let your 10 yo on a road UNLICENSED!!! The parents should be charged as well imo; NEGLIGENCE!!!

Greg

What was the child's culpability in the accident? Was he off-road and then sprang up on the road in the path of a truck? Did he come out of nowhere? Was there enough time for the truck driver to swerve and miss him? How old was the truck driver? Did he go off-road with malice toward a kid on an ATV? Any history of racism on his part? Was he young enough to be afraid enough to leave the scene? If you smoke marijuana on Saturday, you can test positive Monday.
They charged the truck driver with the laws he broke. It is an extremely sad situation for everybody involved. I grieve for the parents. But ATVs aren't toys. They are fun as hell, but dangerous as hell. Nothing a ten-year-old should be driving.

Because they don’t know his toxicology yet. If he was under the influence I’m sure he will be charged with dui manslaughter

Murder likely not, murder requires an element of intent

Why don’t you ever learn these things after all these years of stupid post?

He left the kid to die, idiot. He didn't even stop, do you understand what HIT AND RUN is?
Yes. I also understand what resisting arrest it. Karmelo didn't fight with the police. He was taken into custody without incident. So was this guy. What he's charged with is a different story. Since there is nothing in the hit and run indicating premeditated there will be no murder charge. Karmelo not only planned to kill he threatened murder.

Yes it’s another charge. He can be charged with dui manslaughter and hit and run.

Sorry I don’t know the guy, so not sure how he’s my “massa”

Maybe you can ask your “massa” to allow you to get an education so you don’t sound so dumb
