perhaps he should be tried and someone should figure out why he did it. he could be crazy, or suffering from early onset alzheimers or any number of things. not likely, but i would hate to pour acid on the face of a person who has suffered from untreated paranoid schiophreni for years.
what of he was at home watching the soccer game, as he claims?
neither one of you (lipush thanked) impressed me as the kind of people who believed in the death penalty, but i have been wrong about people before.

I believed that if his suffered a mantal condition, he should have been watched by relatives or people who new him. From what we were told, he waited for her to be home, knocked on the window and when she opened it he poured the liquid right in her face. It doesn't sound like someone who didn't know what he was doing, to me.
I would not have supported death penalty, but if this man knew what he was doing and meant it, I would not have at all objected of him have the same kind of torment. Doing something like that, especially to a minor, is unforgivable in my book.

in the first half of the 20th century, there were a lot of young men hanging from trees south of the mason dixon who didn't have mental conditions either. their crime was being black, although that isn't what they were charged with.
death row prisoners in the USA are being released, sometimes after being incarderated for twenty years, because new evidence is being found that exonerates them.

In Iran, Article 37 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran states: "Innocence is to be presumed, and no one is to be held guilty of a charge unless his or her guilt has been established by a competent court".

now, i know israel doesn't have a constitution, but does the concept of presumed innocence completely escape them.

Israels detentions can go on for years. And they may never use the word arrest! Of course, how long the detentions last most certainly are affected by whether one is Jew or Gentile!
I was under the impression that a detention without a charge does not
constitute an "arrest" in the USA ------but that in some cases things that
seem non criminal and are penalized by a fine ARE called "arrests"
My uneducated (never having attended law school) guess is that the ladies
in question were not charged with a crime---just escorted away and held for
awhile. This kind of thing goes on lots in the USA ----people who play chess
