Majority of voters say President should be elected by popular vote.

The repub party will never let it happen. They have been ruling as a Minority for years.
Tissue?

When we had the unrest in the Summer '20...

It was quite clear that the people upset are voting wise the lowest representation...

They are in a lot of cases having there congressional district gerrymandered to decrease the effectiveness of their vote.
They have the least Senate representation coming from big urban states.
Winning the popular vote used to be the norm of winning the Presidency. They were under at the time to a President that lost by over 2%...

They are getting screwed at the ballot box... When majority people are continuously under represented and are answering to a ruling class they get pissed...

They should do something about that.

You've got two choices.

Advance a constitutional amendment...

...or take up arms.

One will fail, the other will fail catastrophically.

Every other national office...House and Senate and even Governors on thr state level is elected by popular vote. Only the President is elected by the out of date electoral college.
Representatives & Senators do not hold a "national office".

Right now, a man that has never won the popular vote and never will has a chance to cobble together enough EC votes to return the the WH where he would continue to try to destroy our country. That is what minority rules does for you.

Wahhh! The system that has been in place for two and a half centuries won't give me what  I want...Wahhhhhhh!

Also...we need to pack the Supreme Court because they won't do what I want.

Also...we need to get rid of the filibuster...because the Senate won't pass what I want.

There seems to be a pattern here...

Then get enough people to agree to change the Constitution.

Sp...the EC assures Minority Rule...Gotcha!
That is it's purpose... correct.

Did you not learn this in school?

_____________

"Contrary to catchy slogans, memes and other slick forms of electioneering, the government of the United States was never intended to be a pure democracy. In fact, most of the institutions today’s activists complain about were designed to thwart the pernicious effects of too much democracy. They’re anti-democratic by design. Rather than flaws that require remedy, these institutions were (and are) essential safeguards for individual liberty.

The Framers knew that in its pure form democracy could be dangerous. The writings of the founding era are replete with warnings of this fact:

  • “Real liberty is not found in the extremes of democracy, but in moderate governments,” Alexander Hamilton wrote. “If we incline too much to democracy we shall soon shoot into a monarchy, or some other form of a dictatorship.”
  • Thomas Jefferson lamented that “a democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where 51 percent of the people may take away the rights of the other 49.”
  • James Madison argued that democracies “have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.”
  • John Adams concluded that democracy “never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.”
Despite what many of today’s activists would have us believe, the anti-democratic institutions of the American Republic are just as vital now as they were over 200 years ago."

The electoral college makes the theory "one man....one vote" a Lie. The electoral college assured Minority Rule.....of course by the repub party.

The repub party would never win the WH again if the popular vote elected the President. The party would die.
Interesting. Did you miss a semester when they were talking about history? The EC was created BEFORE the Republican party came into being. Those of us who were there know this.

The repub party will never let it happen. They have been ruling as a Minority for years.
Imagine that, Californians and New Yorkers vote that the president should be elected by the majority, screw the other 48 states. Exactly what our founders did not want to happen. But, just to be clear, are you saying, "stop the steal"?

How's that gonna help your 27- 28% popularity President?

Also Texas, Florida, and about a dozen other large population states.

Also I am fine keeping it like that. Things change over time so meh. Congressional and instate Gerrymandering is much more of an issue.

Sorry Moon Bat but to get that changed you would not only need 2/3rds of both Houses of Congress, a President that is willing to make changes in the Constitution and ratification of 2/3rds of the States and that ain't gonna happen so you can go fuck yourself.

If the people supported something as stupid as that then they would elect Congressional Representatives and State legislators that wanted it to happen, wouldn't they?

Democracy sucks. The last thing we need is for the great number of filthy Big City Shithole Illegals, Moon Bats, Queers, Feminazis and Welfare Queens controlling the keys to the Treasury. We would really be fucked then, wouldn't we? They have that in California and look how fuck up that state is. California has the most poverty, worst schools, highest taxes, most homelessness, most middle class leaving the state, soaring crime and most government oppression.

The Electoral Colleges doesn't insure that only real Americans will be elected to office but it helps a little bit and that is a good thing.

California ranks 6th in GDP per capita.

Sorry bout that,

1. No we would see 500 millions votes come from California if that was allowed.
2. You think im kidding, just slightly.
3. Each Libtard city would have 130% turn out, and claim there was no fraud, and all the voters would be Libtards.
4. Nope lets just keep the vote count the way we do it now.

SirJamesofTexas

Makes 0 sense. Why wouldn't they do it now to affect the vote in their states and swing the electoral college? I mean you just can't make this shit up!
MAGA

The majority of voters elected Joe Biden president, proving that they are too damn dumb to suggest that the popular vote is the way to go.
And even if trump runs again.....he will NEVER win the popular vote...because everyone knows he is a child.
