Majority of US companies say they have to raise prices due to Trump tariffs

What would you like them to ask in order to give a more positive message ?
I think I made it very clear. There is no demographic info to validate the survey. Did they survey 100 companies and 54 of them said they would raise prices? That is hardly a cross section of American companies. Who were the companies? Only companies that sell Chinese goods or have manufacturing facilities in China? Don't they teach reading comprehension in Wales?

I never rely on one source of news little own anyone that is a completely biased source.
Tariffs have been a part of business since about 1860.
So it is nothing new. Even Biden and Obama had tariffs on goods.
I fail to believe a single article by an extremely biased source that 54% are increasing prices due solely to Trump while the rest are not. So sue me because I fail to believe a single biased source that I do not even consider to be news.
As far as the rest. It seems that some companies are willing to take a slightly less profit. Or are some just using tariffs as an excuse to increase their profit margin.
You can pretend that you would but you are not showing a true picture it is your supposition
well we know Walmart isn't one of the 54%

Walmart reported 14.8 billion in profits in 2024.

Think hard

So many, of the same people, have been projecting doom and gloom every year Trump has been President. Without COVID, they would be o-fer!

Ever since WWII, we basically bribed other countries to see it our way. Stay away from the USSR, and we will give you this! The price of those bribes, was either American taxpayer money, or American jobs.

Do YOU remember Zenith? How about Philco Ford? Motorola? How many of you know, that these companies fate was sealed by an American President, who needed a vote in the UN? 1 of the seats on the security council rotates. At this particular time, a country known as JAPAN was in that seat, and our President needed a UN vote to go his way. A deal was cut for that vote. In return, by removing tariffs and allowing dumping, YOUR AMERICAN electronic industry went away. Look at your TV. Do you see Zenith, Philco, Motorola? Or rather do you see Sony, and other Asian brands?

These are the type of DEALS our non-business politicians made. Look at what Clinton did to get North Korea to sign off nukes. Listen on youtube to the speech he made as the deal was made. In essence, he BRIBED THEM WITH YOUR MONEY! How did that work out for world peace?

This is why these Leftists and RINO's can not handle what is going on. It goes 100% against everything they have ever been taught. Their belief is..........you have to BRIBE them, or they will go to Russia, or China and kiss up.

Just listen to them if you doubt me! MEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIICCCCCOOOOOO? Hands off! Let them in. Give them what they want. Canada? OMG, they are our ally! Europe? OMG, Trump hates NATO!

What is happening is------------->we are saying, no bribery, you want access to Mr/Mrs/Mz America and their wallets for your goods, now YOU pay to get in. Don't want in? Then do not pay. Just stop sending stuff.

Now then, for you thinking people...........how MANY countries, sell more stuff to China, North Korea, Iran, and Russia, then to the United States? What country does China sell MORE stuff to, than the United States?

And so, now knowing the FACTS, who is the main player in this negotiation? Would it be China? Russia? North Korea? Iran? OR, the United States! And you want to know why Leftists and RINO's are so discombobulated? They do not know how to HANDLE PROSPERITY, all they have ever been taught, is how to GIVE IT AWAY, and they did it for so long, they just can NOT break the cycle!

Think hard
Walmart's gross sales were $642.6 billion. It is estimated 60% of Walmart product comes from China. That would be 385 billion in sales. Walmart would pay 115 billion in tariff costs, at 30%. That would put them at a 111 billion dollar loss.
That would mean employees laid off and stores shuttered.
I would ask you to think hard but I don't think you think.

Yeah genius it doesn’t work the way you wish and feel

I'm willing to pay more to have more products made in America by American workers who spend that money in America.

Once again the communist Democrats side with communist China. I'm shocked.

The reason that so many US companies moved manufacturing offshore was the consumers were not paying the higher cost of US manufactured products. If the consumer continued to buy US products at higher prices there would not be motivation to move offshore.
It was the US consumer who was responsible for manufacturing moving offshore.

The tariffs will result in price advantages for offshore manufacturing but products will be more expensive. That is called inflation. Don't complain when inflation increases as the tariffs go into effect.

Where is your smartphone made?

Have you heard of Purism before? They are an American company and the manufacturers of the Librem 5 smartphone, which is not made in America. But it has a variant, called Librem 5 USA, and that variant is 100% manufactured in the USA.
In summary, apart from the two Librem phones, Librem 5 USA and the Liberty Phone, there are no other smartphones that are made in the USA today.

When they say they're raising their wages nicely i will be on board

I did make a mistake in that I did the analysis on gross sales. Walmart pays tariff on their costs. Their average margin is 30%. That would make tariffs being paid 269 billion dollars, at their cost. That would be 80 billion in tariffs. That does not count on tariffs paid on products from other countries.
Tell me where I am wrong.

Soon.

I have a Sony Xperia.

It is not made in China.

I suspect Elon is going to make an X phone in America soon.

While I'll never buy and electric car, I'll buy a Musk built cellphone it it's made here.

You are correct.

That is why we need the tariffs... to level the playing field for American Workers.

All things being equal, with tariffs offsetting slave wages overseas, making things here will become more attractive.

Yes, prices could tick up on some goods... but those goods will also be higher quality, with much lower environmental pollution, and more middle class blue collar jobs for Americans.

Cut me a break. It was manufacturers who saw huge profit margins by taking advantage foreign labor often using children and draconian labor practices.

"Over half the companies surveyed"? Surveyed by whom? Allianz is a German based insurance company with no background in polling. The dirty little secret is that the Guardian and it's alleged information source, Allianz, stand to lose if Trump's tariffs succeed so which side would they be on?
