Majority of Americans favor wealth tax on very rich: Reuters/Ipsos poll

I would bet a majority of Americans would like no federal taxes.

Christ it seems no amount of tax money is enough for these people. I ask them how much do you need to govern a country, their answer is MORE. I guess they want it all. Hell it would not surprise me if they took it all then borrowed even more and spent that too.

When Hillary was running for POTUS and kept saying the “The rich must pay their fair share!”, I asked the board lefties at least 20 times, “Who are the rich and what is their fair share?” Specifically list income levels and tax percentages that you feel are fair.

Never got ONE RESPONSE.

It was just bullshit bumper sticker political mantra.

I just quickly looked on google and saw this.

Such a tax would make sense to me if the money went towards our outrageous defense budget. I see it the same as insurance, the more you have to protect the higher the premium.

We are no where near being in the economic situation that Greece has been in for YEARS.

THIS is the ARGUMENT they have.... that we aren't Greece yet, so let's be sure and GET THERE because DEMOCRATS are ADDICTED to STEALING OUR MONEY

Let's get one thing clear here though. We cannot continue to provide welfare and other such social safety nets if we keep allowing everyone from all over the world to come here. So you have a choice, social safety nets for AMERICAN (natural born) citizens who have paid taxes their entire adult lives (who would be, afterall, the ones who are most deserving of it), or allow whatever Tom, Dick, or Ahmad to come here and collect all of OUR benefits. Choose because we just cannot afford to support the world, as you all bitch about debt.

I think my points have flown right over your head. I am saying that we should NOT increase taxes on the wealthy. They already pay more and it won't make any difference because the more money the government gets, the more it spends.

OH, but you do support ISRAEL, and the TRILLIONS the US has spent solely to help Israel....

Do you want to cut off all US aid to ISRAEL?

If you don't..... yeah..... THAT.

I would be fine with us giving them aid if it is necessary, same with any other country, like for a natural disaster or if we need to help them because they are being attacked for a foreign adversary. Other than that, no. We give away WAY too much money to other countries while ignoring our own problems here at home.

Edit: That should have been attacked "by" a foreign adversary. Oopsie! :D

No, you made a comment that "taxes were higher at one point, and it didn't end America"..... So, if you're for soaking the wealthy, for the horrible crime of being successful, how much of their money should you be allowed to rob?

Yes, I did make that comment because it is true. It was not a commentary on the idea of higher taxes on the rich, it was a factual comment. Taxes on the rich were once far higher and it did not end America, in fact many would say it was on of our best stretches.

I want everyone to pay more taxes, you mean and the really really rich and the really really poor. Unlike you I am not good with freeloading and I think it is morally wrong to run deficits in a booming economy. Neither of the two major parties nor their voters favor spending cuts, thus we need to man up and start paying our way and quit leaving it for our kids and grandkids.

Why do you enjoy being a freeloader?

I’m guessing you’re convinced that increased revenue at the treasury doesn’t equate to increased spending by the Feds?
THe dems aren't even planning on a 2020 BUDGET for goodness sakes. Lol.

We need a balanced budget amendment...

No, that's the rest of the PARROTS in your FLOCK.....

No, you are essentially parroting BS from Dick Cheney, a traitor who never cared about the US at all.

And your "analysis" doesn't include any fluctuation in interest rates.....

If interest rates were at 1990 levels, what percent of tax revenues would be needed just to pay the interest on the debt???

(Chrisi now goes out to attempt to find some other liar to PARROT, since MATH is BEYOND her INTELLECTUAL CAPACITY)

While I agree, I think that attacking foreign aid is kind of like stepping over a $20 bill to pick up a nickle....

WASHINGTON/NEW YORK (Reuters) - The idea of imposing a wealth tax on the richest Americans has elicited sharply divergent views across a spectrum of politicians, with President Donald Trump branding it socialist and progressive Democratic presidential contenders Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders prominently endorsing it.

Among the 4,441 respondents to the poll, 64% strongly or somewhat agreed that “the very rich should contribute an extra share of their total wealth each year to support public programs” - the essence of a wealth tax. Results were similar across gender, race and household income. While support among Democrats was stronger, at 77%, a majority of Republicans, 53%, also agreed with the idea.

If this is true, then the experiment called the United States of America as we know it is done....

Great. What is the consensus definition and criteria for “the very rich”? Is it more asset-based or more annual income-based?

Anyone with a job.

A THOROUGH AUDIT of precisely where all our money went in UKRAINE would provide the American people with a glimpse of just how our "political class" steals from us, and expose the worst offenders..... Biden clearly being hi on that list.

Foreign aid is all about our political class getting kickbacks.

I'm not parroting anyone. These are my beliefs. Have a problem with it? Guess what? Don't care. ;)
