M1 Abrams Tanks in U.S. Inventory Have Armor Too Secret to Send to Ukraine

NATO is pretending they are really stepping up for Zelensky.
U.S. is sending 31 Abrams tanks
Germany sending 12 Leopard tanks
UK sending 12 Challenger tanks

So a total of 55 main battle tanks to Ukraine.
Russians will make scrape of them within a few weeks.
Hardly a game changer. ... :cuckoo:
Well Abrams killed over three thousand Russia designed, either Russian or Chinese built, tanks in the two Iraq Wars for no Abrams lost to tanks. Now like the ones we sold to Saudi Arabia, the ones we give to Ukraine won't be as capable or tough, but they should go through Russian armor forces like a hot knife thorough butter. The British Challengers will do as well. The Leo IIs have lighter armor so will probably take greater losses.

Won't be WW3.....Except that this is how Korea and Vietnam both started......Send in the "advisors" and military gear first, then escalate until therre's "no choice" but to send in troops.... But in those cases Murica was neither directly attacking Russia nor China, like is happening in Ukraine.....There was certainly no possible threat of going nuclear.

You Wilsonian interventionist warmongers are easily the most stoopit fuckers around.
In Korea and Vietnam, local forces were inadequate to fight well. That's not the case in Ukraine. It's more like WWII where we supplied the UK and Russia with equipment that allowed them to do their own fighting.

As the U.S. government is now preparing to send dozens of M1 Abrams tanks to the Ukrainian military, much attention has been given to concerns about how their complex electronic components and especially their gas turbine propulsion systems could make them particularly difficult to operate and maintain. Though it’s not yet clear what specific variant of the Abrams Ukraine’s military is set to receive, the tanks will have to be in a unique export configuration. This is largely due to the highly classified armor packages found specifically on U.S. military versions, which contain depleted uranium, and that are not readily exportable even to major allies. In other words, the U.S. can’t just send its M1s to Ukraine.

President Joe Biden formally announced plans to send 31 M1 tanks to the Ukrainian armed forces today. The U.S. government will acquire the Abrams through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). USAI provides funds to purchase weapon systems and other equipment, as well as training and other support services, on behalf of the Ukrainian military to support its longer-term needs. While the exact delivery schedule is not yet known, American officials have made clear the process will take months, not weeks. The first tanks may not arrive until late this year or even early next year.

This is simply becoming ridiculous.

No problem. The ones we're sending are the low-budget versions. They're already loading them up on the trucks...

Ukrainian troops aren't going to be able to run Abrams tanks by themselves.

Murican troops aare on the verge of being put on the front lines of yet another war where nobody has attacked us, and useful idiots like White6 will be waving their bloody pom-poms the whole time.

Obsolete crap, put out for target practice.

Leftism is ridiculous.

they could send a declassified version. you know, stripped.
Declassified is probably a non-starter. What all do you want to strip? The range finder system, , the suspension, Thermal Imaging system, CNBR system, the Ballistic computer and sensors that take into account not only type of round, but distance, air temp, tube temp, wind, elevation, cant of the tank, the 3 plane full stab system to remain on target and fire on the move on broken terrain, you mean those classified systems?
You might as well see if the Marines still have any M60-A3s left laying around, and strap on reactive armor plates.

Got any proof?

They are not concrete numbers, they are estimates, due to ongoing fighting and battlefield conditions. These are pretty accurate from what I've seen however.
they are probably pretty accurate since Ukraine controls the battlefields while the Russian have been retreating. Historically the people controlling the battlefields after the battle have more accurate numbers than the losers.

That's right, asshole....WW3 will be hi-fucking-larious!

Blatant lie. If it was too classified it would be in Corvette *Joes garage.
The US has sold Abrams to Saudi Arabia and given them to Iraq and Afghanistan. They are not that classified anymore. By now the Russians and Chinese are certain to have multiple working tanks either bought or traded for from their various client states like Yemen or corrupt officers in Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

great target practice for the Russians

Love seeing American tanks on FIREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

You are correct about the tanks M1s faced in the Gulf War, many of the enemy tanks could not even get one of their rounds far enough down range, standing still to make contact, much less have effect, as the M1 (some 105 as well as 120 smooth-bores) could put almost guaranteed first round kill shots at considerable longer ranges on the move. It wasn't just the tank, but also the tank round. The fin stabilized, depleted uranium, discarding super sabot round is a piece of work in itself.

The Russian T-72s and T-80s will do no better. Western guns and fire control systems are far superior to the Russian, communist designed crap.

The difference is the Iraqi's were poorly trained and no match to the highly trained U.S. tank crew members.

But the Russian tank crew members are very well trained on their tanks.
So the barely trained Ukraine crews in the new Nato tanks will be easy prey for the Russian tanks.

The Russians have continually upgraded their T-72 and T-80 tanks over the years with the latest battlefield innovations.
Do all the T-80s have these convertible turrets for fast egress?
