You should read the OP link before posting. It's a voluntary detail. The officers are not required to work it. Now, if you think they should increase their police budget, pay the police overtime and force them to work it, that's another matter.

A cop volunteers to be a cop on his own time. What is he, a private citizen or a cop? Paid or unpaid he is required to be professional, his arrests, on duty or off duty, both count the same so his professionalism also has to be the same.
