Residents of a tower block which erupted in flames in a horrific fire said they “predicted a catastrophe” but claim safety warnings “fell on deaf ears”.

The Grenfell Action Group say they repeatedly voiced fears over the past four years about the potentially devastating outcome of a blaze at the Notting Hill building.

In a chilling blog post just seven months ago, it predicted “only a catastrophic event” would make Grenfell Tower tenants’ concerns heard.

It added: “Unfortunately, the Grenfell Action Group have reached the conclusion that only an incident that results in serious loss of life of… residents will allow the external scrutiny to occur”.

London Fire Brigade confirmed a number of people had died after fire ripped through the 27-storey building in the Lancaster West estate near Ladbroke Grove just before 1am.

They had 40 fire engines and 200 firefighters. They have no idea how many were inside.

AAAAAAAAAnd ................................................................................................it's the muzzers !!!!!!!!

~Meanwhile, in London, a 24-story tower block continues to burn in White City. The fire broke out at one in the morning, when most residents were asleep. There appear to have been failures in fire alarms and fatal miscommunications advising tenants to stay put. There have been a few good-news stories - a baby thrown by a desperate parent from the ninth or tenth floor was caught by a bystander down below - but we cling to such tales because we know they are the exception, and that the toll of those consumed in the flames will be far greater than the anecdotes of miraculous survival.

The politicians are already bickering about the politics even ass this towering inferno still blazes over the London skyline. It's a part of town where wealthy celebrities in handsome Georgian houses and the multiculti service class in cheap blocks of flats live in fairly close proximity, and it is tempting, in a city whose mayor advises Londoners to get used to sudden violent death as a feature of life, to see it as some grim metaphor for the general state of things. But it is all too real and terrible for those inside, and it is of them we should think.

Mark Steyn.

Lol. What he actually said;

“The overwhelming majority of landlords, and I will put myself in this category, want to do the right thing and wouldn’t ever dream of renting out a property that isn’t in a fit state to be rented out and want to comply with every regulation that’s introduced.
Comedy Gold !!

No excuse needed. The nasty party brings it on themselves. How many deaths must happen before you stop being a partisan hack ?
The fires aren't even out, neither are the bodies, and all you've done all day is shamefully try to politicise this like the transparent disgusting hack your are - and just like your pal Comrade Corbyn. You are a really sleazy nasty little man who doesn't give two hoots for all the dead, just as you don't bat an eye for all the victims of terrorism.

This is serious stuff. 500-600 burned alive or died from smoke. Many of them Children. TommyT is posting links about FUTURE LAW.

This is an OLD building. It has been through "50 years" of repeated BIG GOVT approvals. It had recently been re-furbished........that takes sign-off. Building inspectors? Codes? Materials? documents? WTH?

TommT.....is the GOVT so corrupt you claim they have allowed DEATH TRAPS for its' Citizens knowingly?

Apparently, the building was a shit hole, the British equivalent to a housing project for minorities. Trash everywhere.

That's what happens with rightwing/conservative governments, they hate regulations. Flammable plastic siding to make an eyesore look nice for the tourists without sprinklers or adequate fire escapes is what that sort of government gets you. Of course, there are Brits on the right that could give a f-ck what happens to the poor that live in those places.

The last fire of this sort was under a Labour gvmnt and a Labour council. Try again.

Oh dear! Take a look at this outrageous hypocrisy, Tammy:

Revealed: Sadiq Khan took donations from property firm which 'put tenants’ lives at risk'
Sadiq Khan came under pressure to return donations given to his mayoral campaign today after it emerged he received thousands of pounds from a property firm which “put tenants’ lives at risk”.

The Labour candidate, who has pledged to crack down on rogue landlords, accepted £10,000 from a property group based in Manchester which was prosecuted and fined more than £14,000 for breaching tenant safety rules. He received a further £19,900 from a developer in Croydon who was linked to an expensive legal battle against council plans for a landlord licensing scheme....

Sadiq Khan caught in row over donations from property firm

Makes you wonder what he promised them behind closed doors. Unbelievable.
