Actually, reaching ANY agreement with the Iranian regime is a loss.

Trump's position was regime change! They aren't getting regime change, they aren't getting the nuclear material, and they are giving them billions of dollars to let ships pass through the Strait.

So we just pissed away 100 billion dollars and depleted our munition stockpiles to have a worse situation than we started with.

A step that I would have rather seen weeks ago.

Once occupied, they would have to bomb and target their own oil output and that would be a huge advantage in any negotiations.

I was focusing of Qeshm Island and the islands/ports in the south. I think any talk about taking Kharg Island is misdirection, since we can already control it by air and sea. The real objective is to prevent shorter range weapons from being used against shipping going through the Strait.

I'm not holding my breath, but this report (if truely inline with Iran's supposed leaders) is a big step in the right direction.
