While there’s no shortage of lithium right now, there could be in the future. When that shortage occurs, prices will skyrocket.

A little off topic, something related to battery production is using recycled silicon wafer used in solar panels. My friend's son is an engineer/geologist who is working for SRS in Ventura. I heard it's a failing enterprise.

Maybe 10-15 years out, if civilization is still hanging on long enough to have stock markets and investing as we know it today, the wisest money invested will be that which is directed toward products that ensure our basic survivability. Materials or appliances that are able to efficiently keep our surface and lower troposphere temperatures cool enough to survive during extended heatwaves. Devices that keep power supplies on -- maybe battery-powered off-grid homes with extended solar storage capacity. Making drinking water from the molecules in the air.

"Electrify everything" is a fad, and we will very quickly become disabused of the notion that it will save us from environmental destruction any better than fossil fuels.

I have wondered whether or not major industrialized economies that have long dominated because of fossil fuels may deliberately interfere with efforts to switch over to renewables, not just because of any financial ties to FF they might have but also because of national security concerns.

If our biggest potential military and economic rival (China, in this case) dominates many parts of the renewables industry and supply chain, and if other countries with whom we've not necessarily always been on friendly terms (Chile & Argentina) have the largest lithium reserves, then there has to be some concern about having only renewables in the energy portfolio.

This is why I'm skeptical that automakers will completely switch over to EVs and that we will totally ditch oil & gas. We'll find other uses for it even if we reduce our use in automobiles. We're kind of forced to in a way.

The price will soon price EV's too far up to make them viable for replacing IC engines, and also the prices of nickel and copper will hit the stratosphere from all the artificial demand being generated. Mining all that stuff also cancels out the aledged 'Greeness n stuff', and in any case India and Red China will still be pollution like there is no tommorrow and EV's won't make even a tiny dent in pollution, just increase it as well as creating more poverty.

Lithium, almost worthless not so long ago. Now, it is worth billions.

And people do not see how Green Renewable energy profits Wall st..

The government mandates and pays for Renewables, Wall st. and huge corporations profit.

It also allows speculators who produce nothing but inflated prices to manipulate markets, especially if they can get insider info from politicians and the lobbyists who buy them.
