How about a guy who makes a nice lunch or from scratch, all good food and a picnic setting? A bottle of good wine, a nice location, and simple good conversation? It takes effort.

A good woman would appreciate it and find it touching. Wine and cheese is always good.
A Diva would consider it cheap and demand you take her to an expensive restaurant where she would order the most expensive thing on the menu

I get not wanting the tacky chain restaurants like Applebee's, but no night club? No bowling? no sporting events? What exactly do these hos want?

Doing something “fun” makes for an interesting first date.
Not every woman likes bowling or sports. But if she does, it gives you something in common. Most women enjoy dancing but a nightclub can be kinda loud.
