It seems to me a lot of Slasher films I like have a strong Eroticism I feel in the film. It seems a blueprint for a good slasher film. The pleasure of sexuality combined with scary, blood, gore I guess adds to the pleasure of a good scary slasher film?

Slasher films I like that seem to have this Eroticism feeling in the film.

Psycho
Torso
The Last House on the Left
Friday the 13th films
Rob Zombie's Halloween
Seven
A Nightmare On Elm Street 3
Slumber Party Massacre
House of 1,000 Corpses
Basic Instinct
Maniac
Tenebre

More like subliminal misogyny being a key element. Sexually frustrated male adolescents and teenagers seem to be the main audience for these flicks.

Interesting I am sure some may fall into that category, not me. A man who has been married 3 times and had many sexual partners and strip clubs. Currently married. Maybe a sexually frustrated sex addict would be my category.

I just think of all the good slasher films and scary movies that have this element of eroticism/nudity/sex in the film; seems to make it a much more enjoyable thriller to watch. Just an interesting element to many of these slasher films I seem to love to watch so much I have noticed.

Or maybe people enjoy these films because they have a deep down, as Frued would say, kill instinct/desire/lust for that they can't act out. They have this kill instinct they can't act so to satisfy that urge they watch a slasher film. It seems Eroticism/ Desire to kill instinct are so intertwined. If you study many serial killers like Bundy for example they describe why they did all these killings because they found it sexually arousing and something that gave them a higher sexual arousal than simply just porn. Maybe watching the combination of blood/gore violence combined with sex gives a much higher arousal level ?

All just psychology and psychological musing to me and maybe even overthinking things....

I'm pretty sure it's mostly just anger directed at women for not freely putting out to just any geek who gets horny, for the most part. It's about revenge on the hot chicks.

I don’t think it goes any deeper beyond the well known fact that sex and violence sells.

Ever been to a horror convention? Wwwhhhooollleee lot of chicks there into horror movies and slashers on particular.

Your assessment is a low hanging fruit of a observation from a armchair psychologist. That's the kind of stuff a 1st psych college student would tell highschoolers in order to impress them.

It simply boils down to slashers in general involve younger people in the story and younger people are the primary audience. That's why in those movies smoking weed, sex, partying, no real adults around and so on are reoccurring themes.

But plenty of women love slashers. When I was a little kid my mom introduced me to horror movies which included slashers, my wife loves them, my best friend that's a girl does.

You do have a point... and I can see that viewpoint....I do see younger people liking these films for many of the reasons you pointed out.

I also though see this very dark intertwined link between murder(desire to kill) and eroticism(sex drive), combining the two in a slasher movie seems to make a much better enjoyable slasher movie...well because in real life many serial killers kill due to sex addictions/fantasies leading them down that path. I have listened to interviews of serial killers Bundy, The Green River Killer, BTK, Gacy and one thing in common is they all say they killed due to a sexual addiction or sexual fantasy leading them down that path. As Ted Bundy described in an interview that for some like him sex addiction got dark and dangerous, he had to do more extreme measures to be sexually satisfied. You look at the Green River Killer it started out with dirty pictures, then progressed to porn, then strip clubs, then hookers... and then when that wasn't enough to satisfy his sexual addiction he escalated it to actually killing women. Of course I think to do this you need to be a sociopath, most men at some level I think suffer from sex addiction that never escalates beyond your adult movie or gentlemen's club.

....I think many great directors of Slasher/ thriller movies like Alfred Hitchcock realize this strong link between Eroticism/ killer instinct and actually studied serial killers to put more of a dark and scary story on the screen. Alfred Hitchcock studied serial killers even the hit Psycho was loosely inspired off a real life serial killer. They understand this desire for Eroticism and Erotic feelings drive the killer to kill to satisfy his sex instinct. You really see this link in Italian giallo slasher films like Torso. I suspect Italian director Sergio Martino studied serial killers. You see in the film Torso the very strong Eroticism/nudity/sex combined with very bloody murders.
