Camden is nice. I lived in Sumter twice. (Stationed at Shaw AFB). Nice, friendly people. Great BBQ.

We have visited the areas often but they keep changing, I loved the old backroads now becoming divided etc. My brother looked in the area for a while but found it kinda cookie cutter and a baby boomer from the cold northeast development often gated place. Visit for a few days see what you think. We have visited and stayed at the Villages in Florida. Kinda weird but interesting too. Have fun.

Myrtle beach

A high school buddy moved there in the 70's and is still there. It's a tourist town so not for me. Been there several dozen times for entertainment. The Canadians invade every September I think. That's a hoot. Canadian flags everywhere. A more polite and courteous horde of invaders you could ever ask for.

Camden is old school South Carolina. Lots of history. Take a look at Florence too.
