A few of us talking about this in the pub.
It was banned in many places in the UK. Places where church or chapel held sway.
It wasnt a great film. More a collection of great set pieces.

We could all sit there quoting dialogue but none of us could remember how it ended.

We were all in school and 6 of us went to watch it We felt like we were anarchists.
My Grandparents didnt approve. My parents didnt care.

/----/ It had its moments, but not the best work of Monty Python.

I saw it, saw most everything by MP...didn't it end with him exploding in a restaurant after eating an after dinner mint because he was so full?

nothing beat "the holy grail" though, even my mother and grandmother loved it...as for the TV stuff I wasn't a big fan of "the flying circus" but enjoyed what I think was called "flowers towers"...I have friend who has an original copy of "the holy grail" script complete with notes in the margin.

That was the "Meaning of Life".

This movie ended with the song "Look on the Bright Side of Life".

Holy smokes YOUR RIGHT!!!
Fawlty Towers.

Right again, [I'm starting to question how I make it through the day]...lol...would have never made you for a/an MP fan, good job.

We sang look on the bright side of life in Belgium whan Wales were gettng stuffed by belgium,
We got back in the game but carried on singing it.
Its really a song you sing when the game is lost but it brought us together.

Monty Python based Brit humor is strange and sometimes funny. Attacking Christianity is a risk free endeavor that they freely engaged in but imagine the feedback if they did a skit on the life of Mohammed.

Terry Jones noted that they were not attacking Christianity but rather the way different people interpret Christianity.

He "noted"? What does that mean? The fact is that the Python group routinely ridiculed Christianity but being the pop cowards that they were they were careful to avoid angering the Islamic culture.

He noted is another way of saying He said.

Did I really need to explain this to you?

He is a member of the freaking gang. What else do you expect him to "note"? It's another example of the Orwellian viewpoint of the left. We saw the Python gang ridicule Christianity for decades but we shouldn't believe what we saw and heard and instead believe what a member of the gang "noted".

They "ridiculed" everything.

People also need to have the ability to laugh at themselves.

When these shows were being made Islam was not a factor in British socuety. Why would they satirise it ?
On the other hand the church was a blight on british life. Ripe for attack.
I think you iust want to be "outraged,"
You have added nohing to this thread. Why dont you give it a rest for a few minutes.

The story is little week but some of the scenes are quite funny but the movie is certainly not recommend for the Bible Thumpers. Of the Monty Phython movies, I think "Monthy Phyhon and the Holly Grail is the best, followed by "The Meaning of Live"

I agree on Holy Grail but I liked Life of Brian better than The Meaning of Life.

Not everything. Python was careful to never ridicule the Islamic dogma or the homosexual pedophile structure. In fact the Monty Python gang was a lame bigoted liberal extension of the lame British liberal pop culture at the time..

Loved the part where they were going to the stoning. You have men dressed as women, who are not allowed at a stoning, dressed as men so they could go.

Still legal in Islamic cultures but credited to western Christianity by the Python gang.
