Like the liberals say "We oppose censorship unless there's a good reason for it".

The politically correct crowd just got a great American novel banned

dec 14 2015 A suburban Philadelphia school expelled “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” from its curriculum over the book’s overuse of the N-word.

The Friends’ Central School removed the Mark Twain classic from the 11th-grade American literature class last week after students said it made them feel uncomfortable, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

“We have all come to the conclusion that the community costs of reading this book in 11th grade outweigh the literary benefits,” principal Art Hall said in a letter to parents.

But the principal insisted it isn’t censorship.

“I do not believe that we’re censoring. I really do believe that this is an opportunity for the school to step forward and listen to the students,” Hall said.

The book will remain in the private school’s library even though it’s no longer on the required reading list. The class will assign “Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass” in place of the Twain work.

If blacks really find the n-word so offensive, then why do they use it all the time?. This is crazy.

Oh my gosh, it's called literature, fiction if you will, anything goes actually in other words, and it's an old book written from a completely different era. Let's just make certain we focus on minutiae instead of reality whatever we do, for crying out loud!

Why do RWNJ lie? Why does the Sun rise in the east.

A private religious school removed Huck Finn from the 11th grade curriculum- the book is still in the school library, available for anybody in the school to read.

Which part about this specifically bothers RWNJ?
  • Religious schools controlling their own curriculum?
  • Private schools deciding which books to use?
  • The inability to understand the word 'Ban'?
  • Because the book was removed because of race, instead of because of religion?

Look idiot, as the article said,

It is OUTRAGEOUS for ANYONE to object to this book and be a free thinking person. The whole point to Huckleberry Finn was that there are human rights across racial lines and is a lesson on racial tolerance.

That doesnt suit the Identity Politics race hustlers though on the left so they attack anything that creates empathy across racial lines.

THAT is the point whether you want to quibble that this was only removing something from the curriculum of advised reading, and is placed in some dark dusty corner of the history section or claim it was tossed into a pile and burned like Progressive Socialists used to do in Nazi Germany 80 years ago..

So liberals want reparations based on a history they want to pretend doesn't exist?

Well the RWNJ who started the thread claimed that the book was 'banned'- which it wasn't. He equated it to book burning- which it wasn't.

Not only that, if you read into the issue more- this is a Quaker school- and the decision to remove the book from curriculum was the result of Quaker religious principles in action.

I love Huck Finn- I would disagree with any school that chooses to remove the book from its curriculum- but I also support the right of private schools to teach whatever they decide to teach.

And I also believe in the truth- and the facts- something the OP was not.

I don't even pretend to understand whatever the hell you think you are saying.

Presuming you are speaking of reparations for slavery- this liberal is opposed. As a liberal though, I did approve of the reparations signed into law by Ronald Reagan to the survivors of the Japanese internment camps.

As I have said before a lot of these kids are in for a hell of a surprise when they leave school and get into the real world and discover no one gives a rats if they are uncomfortable over something.

It's already happening, hell they now demand "safe places", bunch of pussies
