Let's Eliminate Government-Mandated Handicapped Parking Spots.

Private industry does most things better than government.
Such as Amazon.com. All I need to with that private firm is click on an order and days later it arrives. Same day I shop with Fred Meyer online and select products and 2 hours later it comes to me at home.

But why else would I have a projector?
No, you are projecting your shit onto me. As far as your 'projector' film went away decades ago. Give it to Good Will maybe. Study word usages, loon,

So what’s it been? 20 years since you were in daylight?

Why don’t they build our roads for us and just charge us to use them ?
Well, they can. And do. But for the most part we treat roads as part of the commons. The problem is, you loons want everygoddamnedthing to be classified as "the commons". No thanks.

Private industry builds all the roads. And get paid for doing it.
Yes, contracts are given to private construction
But the roads are dictated by the government and paid through public not private funds
Government takes eminent domain over the land that is needed

If one thing can be given to private businesses away from government responsibility, why not anything else? But you think government is still needed. It isn't if everything is eliminated from its responsibility and private businesses provide for those, unless some parental figurehead is always wanted.

LOL. What a thread. I have to park a half-mile from my grocery store due to:

1. Military parking
2. New Mothers
3. Pregnant Mothers
4. Employee of the month
5. Online Pick up
6. Handicap
7. Senior citizens

Not a big deal but 90% of those spaces are empty.

It's such a trivial thing that it sounds petty to complain about it. But it points to a legal concept that's killing us - "special rights for special people". As much as it might make us feel good to use the government to dictate perks for the handicapped, it's a direct affront to equal protection.

Other than handicap spaces I think all those are voluntary by the property owner yes?

Yes. And that would be fine, but they're prompted by the handicapped policy. People say, "Well, if handicapped people get special spots than why shouldn't expected mothers, or the elderly, or ... etc. etc ...?"

Very few businesses would be playing this game if the government hadn't started the ball rolling with mandates.

My wife and I went to a restaurant that was at the end of the long leg of an L shaped strip mall. There were four handicapped spaces at the inside junction of the two legs, with a very large area to access the ramp.

That meant that these bases right in front of the restaurant were non handicapped. We parked in one but we looked around, wondering why it wasn't handicapped. It felt very strange to be able to to get out of our car and walk straight in.

This is how we have been trained to think: that the best of everything must be set aside for some preferred types of individuals.

Glad you agree with me. Few leftwingers did on this thread.
