Let's Eliminate Government-Mandated Handicapped Parking Spots.

Right? What would the pushback be if the city gov't took three public parking spaces and put a gas pump in them on a public street?

Oh you know how that would turn out......probably mass rioting and another CHOP/CHAZ

But if they really wanted to make an impact statement.......why not Ellensburg or Yakima or Spokane where there would be more EV's to charge with quadruple the population. Heck Spokane could even pull in from CDA........but Colville? With only 5K population and 4,990 rednecks with their trucks that get 10 gallons to the mile? It's just laughable

Yeah, LOL, if you want to know the price of gas at the five stations in Colville, just look at the first one you see. All of the others are the same. Three owners--Safeway, and a diesel shop. The other three are all owned by the same people.

It's fine if they do. If they want to play musical chairs and divide all their customers into classes, some of which get special perks and some of which don't - that is their business. But I might just skip that mess.

Perks that help those who need additional help
Agreed........and have to laugh at 'charging 3 vehicles a day' as their big win. Yes it can charge more vehicles than that, but shows how little it's needed in that area......and it’s the first of its kind in all of E. WA :lmao:
Surprising that when gas exceeds $4 a gallon those charging stations are more in demand

Yep. And you think the government is there to help people who need additional help.

The problem is: who decides who deserves additional help, and who doesn't? Right now it's Uncle Donny and his thugs.

The government isn't there to hand out perks and favors, regardless of how much you might think a given person, in a given situation, "deserves" it.

Actually it shouldn't make a difference in the amount of demand......if you have an EV it still needs charged regardless of price of gas.

$4 per gallon??? HA, try over $5 and close to $6 in this area, some places even higher

The demand for EVs drop when gas is $2.50 a gallon.
At $4 a gallon those cars will fly off the lots

Maybe it is a texas thing, or even a houston area thing.Because I don't see it much in san antonio, dallas and austin, either.

Our HEB's walmart's and even lowe's have dedicated spaces for handicapped, mothers with small children, veterans, first responders and of course curbside pickup.

Nothing special for just ordinary paying customers, though.

Maybe my wife and I should demand special spaces for teachers. it's like prison. If you're not affiliated, you're all alone, and your s*** is in the wind.

About a year ago, we had a young mother park in the New Mommy space and then get kicked out because she was nursing her child without covering up with the blanket. she made me made a stink about it and the next day there were signs up saying nursing mothers welcome.
If these women discreetly covered up, that would be one thing, but these big mommas leave those things flopping out just for attention.

I never could figure out why the double standard. A man runs around in a speedo and nothing else and that's OK. But if a woman is topless, which is really irrelevant to this thread, they are just 'leaving that thing flopping out for attention.' How do you justify this? BTW, breast feeding a child ANYWHERE is no different than pulling a bottle out of a diaper bag. Take your mind out of the gutter.

Double standard is right. See what happens if a man takes a leak in the open in a public park. Perfectly natural like breastfeeding, right?

I once installed a parking place for "Nursing Mothers or Women Exposing Breasts for any Reason." It was at my house.

But it only lasted until my wife got home.

Heh... Well that was an egregious typo.

Government is not there to help people in need. It's there to protect our rights and resolve dispute, not to score goodies for the "deserving".
Nope

Government is there for the people, otherwise, who needs them?

Well, you mean the majority, not all of the people. You always, conveniently, skip that detail. Democracy is about the majority forcing its will in the minority. When we need everyone to commit to one course of action (like when choosing a leader) majority rule is fine. Otherwise, we the people should be allowed to decide for themselves who deserves "help" and who doesn't. We don't need majority rule for that.

We belong to something called a society
Government is elected to do what is best for society.

Helping the poor is part of that

A man is not looked down for showing skin above the waist as you just did for this woman who was feeding her child. Your ridiculous moving of the goal posts to meet your narrative is grasping. I didn't say a word about BELOW the waist. If you can't see a difference, you've been brainwashed. In answer to your ridiculous analogy, the same thing would happen to that man relieving himself as would happen to a woman who squatted on the street. There is also a sanitation aspect to the scenario you just used.

Women went centuries without having to expose their breasts while breastfeeding. Those who do now are just being typically insolent.
I don’t know what any of that has to do with handicap parking spaces.
