Voting isn't a SERIES./——-/ Winning the popular vote is irrelevant. It’s like saying the team with the most runs wins the World Series when in fact it’s the team that wins the most games out of seven.

/----/ It's an analogy, you big dope. But you already knew that. Why are you playing stupid again?Voting isn't a SERIES.
You really think he is playing stupid? I dont./----/ It's an analogy, you big dope. But you already knew that. Why are you playing stupid again?
I asked Gemini:
That is a fascinating comparison. As a linguistic expert, I can tell you that this is a classic example of a figurative analogy.
An analogy is defined as a comparison between two things to explain a concept by highlighting their similarities. In this case, you are using a sports structure to explain a political mechanism.
The Logic of the Analogy
The comparison holds up quite well because both systems prioritize representative victories over cumulative totals.

/----/ Yeah. The case for the EC and why it's important to ensure representation to all Americans has been stated hundreds of times in the simplest explanation since the 2000 election. You really think he is playing stupid? I dont.

You're a MORON too.You really think he is playing stupid? I dont.
WTF?/----/ Yeah. The case for the EC and why it's important to ensure representation to all Americans has been stated hundreds of times in the simplest explanation since the 2000 election.
Anyone who can't understand it is stupid. Nuthin"Fancy understands it, but he wants to eliminate it to make sure democRATs win the presidency moving forward. He wants the White House controlled by a handful of blue states. Is he stupid? No. Is he diabolical? Yes.
/—-/ Good. The way the Founders intended.WTF?
You're a moronic idiot.
The people don't get a vote.
State legislators get to pick THEIR members to the electoral college system.
That isn't representation by the people, in the slightest bit.
That's why it must be placed on mid term ballots....Most people don't even understand the C.U. Ruling. It was a rare ruling where the justices went beyond what they were asked to rule on but if you support the Afroman ruling you have to support the main argument of C.U.
Also, there is a zero chance of ending the E.C.
That's why it must be placed on mid term ballots....
Most Americans could not read or write when the Constitution was writtenWe're generally in agreement on most issues but I think the Founding Fathers created the Electoral College for the benefit of all Americans. If we went to just the popular vote in National elections then the folks who populate the biggest cities in America would win every election -- every time -- and the farmers and folks in rural areas would never have a say in the matter.
The folks who can't read shouldn't vote in the first place. And anyone who doesn't know American history has no business voting either. The bottom line is that the Founders were wise enough to protect ALL of the States that make up the United States. If only the most populated States got to determine every election then the States would cease to be "united."Most Americans could not read or write when the Constitution was written
The Founders fid not trust the popular vote and little has changed since thrn
We have a really piss-poor education system today and a toxic liberal media that was dropped on its head shortly after WW2 and absolutely breeds stupidity
So in my opinion the popular vote is out
Both are very bad ideas. Congress-twit Scanlon’s proposal is so retarded that Hank Johnson supports it.What about this?
Scanlon Introduces Constitutional Amendment to Overturn Citizens United Ruling and Return Power to the People
Vote Out The Electoral College as well. EC has become voter suppression.
Let the voters decide through a special vote.........
It would be excellent use of our tax dollars.
Pretty much. They get all hopped up on that hopeium and think things are just going to be better if they take another shot.Pipe dream thread.![]()
Um...no. I don't think you know what the electoral college is.I fervently agree to get Big Money out of politics so the politicians are forced to listen to the people they represent. I am not for abolishing the electoral college because smaller states will lose representation.
I have bad news for you. Politicians running for President already ignore smaller states.Come on dumocraps, let's stick up for the little guys, right? However, a lot of the complaints of the electoral college can be rendered moot if we stop trying to create a behemoth central government and return much of the power back to the states. The power should be kept as close as possible to the people it serves. Why concentrate it in DC where they don't give a rat's ass about the rest of the country?
