If they can't live on over $5 trillion to do the very few things the Constitution authorizes them to do, they need to go home.

You never once hear them say they want to raise taxes in order to bring down the debt. They are always wanting to tax more in order to spend even more money than we are spending now. I remember Joe Manchin making a deal with Democrats that he would sign off on the IRA bill because it detailed diverting a bunch of money to paying down the debt. Shortly after that Biden wanted to forgive student loans, which wiped out the money the IRA would pay down the debt. Manchin was pissed and felt like he was swindled.
