Lebron thinks he is the GOAT in the NBA. Do you agree with him?

I don't recall Jordan choking as often as LeBron has.
That's what I tell the young kids who think Lebron is the GOAT. This is coming from a person who hated Jordan. He broke up my Bad Boys. He won his first ring. Okay cool he beat the Lakers. But then he beat Portland and the Suns. I rooted against him. Prayed he would fail just once. But he didn't. It was so nice when he took a break. But then he came back. I rooted for Seattle, they failed. I rooted for Utah, they failed, TWICE. I was sure that last one Jordan was going to fall short. Come on just once? Nope. Not the GOAT. Not freakin once.

Jordan broke the Cavaliers more than once.

And I don't think he ever choked. LeBron, OTOH, could disappear in an important game. He'd look like a deer in the headlights or completely bored.

I will always be SO grateful for him in 2016, but even then, Kyrie made the winning shot.

Why do I remember Lebron's beginnings so differently than reality? I thought he got to the finals every year but just lost. It felt like he dominated the East before he left Cleveland the first time but that's not true.

2007 Lebron got Cleveland to the finals. Boston and Orlando beat Lebron the next 3 years to go to the finals.

Then he joined the Heat and they lost to Dallas. FINALLY with Wade and Bosch he had enough to win a championship. Should have been 4 in a row for Miami instead it was just a repeat. But went to the finals 4 years in a row.

Then 2015-2018 the guy took Cleveland to the finals 4 years in a row? That's what I must be remembering.

Then he won one in LA.

Finals 4 years in a row, finals again 4 years in a row. It's not winning 3 peats two times in a row. Clearly that's better but still. Finals 4 years in a row twice is pretty impressive.

The dudes been relevant for 20 years.

All true. LeBron is great, no question about it, but he's no GOAT.

He was raised by a kind of crazy alcoholic mother. My own opinion is something is off inside him.

What do you say? Is Lebron or Michael the GOAT in the NBA? I say it's still about the number of championships. That's why Nicklaus is the GOAT in golf and Brady is the GOAT in football and Michael is the GOAT of the NBA. Lebron has a case given his longevity and 4 rings with 3 different teams. But the number is still SIX set by Michael.
Russell. 11

Case closed.

That's different. He wasn't even the lead scorer on that team.

Bill Russell did not lead the Celtics in scoring; he focused on defense and rebounding, while teammates like Tom Heinsohn, Sam Jones, and John Havlicek handled the primary scoring duties. While Russell is the team's all-time leading rebounder, John Havlicek is the Celtics' all-time leading scorer, followed by Paul Pierce and Larry Bird.
So, now it's about scoring?

I wish people would make up their minds.

Is it about rings, stats, or longevity?

If it’s the number of rings neither of the is tne GOAT.

GOAT what, crybaby? He's embarrasing.

LeBron has been a part of 41 series playoff wins. There are 24 NBA teams that do not have 41 series playoff wins.

No no no. You know what it's about. It's about who the GOAT is. Russell doesn't qualify. He was on a great team. He was a Dennis Rodman type. Played D. Is Dennis the GOAT?

Kobe, Jordan, Lebron, Magic Johnson maybe can be in the conversation?

Tim Duncan is not. He's great don't get me wrong but not GOAT material.

Kobe knows Jordan was better than him. It killed Kobe. That's why I love him. He was so competitive. Lebron, not so much. That's what's missing from Lebron. His desire to win. You whipper snappers just don't understand because you didn't live through it.

Remember, I hated Jordan because he just wouldn't lose. After it was all said and done, I had to tip my cap to the dude. He refused to lose. He was the GOAT even before he won his first championship. Magic, Bird, the Pistons all knew he was the GOAT. At least the greatest of their time.

The more time goes on the more respect I give Lebron for everything he has done. I said he went to 4 finals in a row with Cleveland and 4 finals in a row with Miami. Had he won just 2 more championships, I'd probably be saying he is the GOAT right now. And that's not all on him. I know it's a team sport.

But it comes down to desire and heart. Jordan had more. Jordan would have beaten Lebron every time. And Lebron would have taken it just like everyone else had to take it.

You can't disagree with facts unk.

He was not lead scorer on his team. Fact.

Tom Sam and John were.

Russell was the teams leading rebounder. Fact. Like a Dennis Rodman. No GOAT here.

I have never seen that from him. But I was also a little kid when he played.
It’s a well known fact dude. Gambler, drinker, cheating on his wife. If Jordon existed in the current social media environment he would have to drastically change his lifestyle.

Yesterday I said Lebron had been to the finals 4 times in a row TWICE. I think I'm wrong. The internet says he reached the finals 8 consecutive times? Wow that's impressive. This is what I was remembering. It felt like he went to the finals every year for a decade. That's because he did!

LeBron James has appeared in the NBA Finals 10 times in his career. During these 10 appearances, he has won four championships and has a 4-6 record in the Finals. He notably reached the Finals eight consecutive times between 2011 and 2018.

And to have gone to the finals 10 times? That's pretty GOAT worthy. Not his fault his teams lost 6 and won 4.

But Michael is 6 and 0. That's gotta mean something.
