The U.S. Justice Department's civil rights division will be the lead agency investigating the shooting of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Gov. John Bel Edwards told reporters Wednesday.

The U.S. attorney's office, the FBI and state police also will be involved, he said.
Edwards said he has "very serious concerns" after having watched a cell phone video of the shooting.
"The video is disturbing to say the least," he said.
He said officials agreed there should be an independent investigation.
"There should be no doubt in anybody's mind that this incident is going to be investigated impartially and thoroughly," the governor said.""""

Damn, those black people with cell phones.....Betcha' their FREE Obama phones, too!

What are you trying to do? You can only squeeze so much hate into a post before it gets jumbled. If he was wrong he will be prosecuted. I can't see from the video if the guy was going for another cops gun. Should have probably been tased but he definitely shouldn't have been wrestling. Get the word out, lefties still don't understand.

Bla bla bla----He was in fear of his life-----He followed procedure----It was just another black guy anyway.----They will find some way to justify open season on black folk, so this is just another on the list.

When you hear a cop screaming "get down on the ground" several times but the perp keeps on lunging it isn't the cop's fault.

Reports say....perp had gun in pocket. Bought few days ago. Outside CD salesman......huh? Oh yeah, 5 kids? But he live elsewhere? Welcome to hell. No law, no morals. Did his kids get the CDs' in the will?

I'm sure his intent wasn't to kill the guy. Move along now, it's the Hillary doctrine.

Really? So someone holds a gun an inch from your chest and pulls the trigger and there was no intent to kill? Hmmmm.....I'll have to remember that.

The video clearly shows two police officers tackling him, pinning him down and on top of him when the one visible in the camera takes out his gun and shoots Sterling in his upper body at veryclose range....like maybe a few inches.

We didn't have technology like this 20 years ago. Black people with cell phones changes everything for redneck cops.

As always, I will await for more details to emerge before jumping to any conclusions. It is far too early to make any hasty judgements either way.

Wow....how convenient that the phone stopped filming what happened at the worst possible time for the officers......

It might be a throw-down gun, sort of like the throw-down taser that Walter Scott supposedly had when that redneck cop shot him in the back.
Shooting this guy 5 times at close range...Nope.

Except it didn't. The guy with the cell phone reeled back after the first couple of shots.
It's amazing how we now have video and people still insist on living in denial.

Nope.

"It’s unclear how Sterling obtained the weapon. His rap sheet dates back two decades with several drug, firearm, theft and assault arrests. He was sentenced to five years to prison for marijuana and weapon possession in 2009, the Advocate reported."

"He later saw officers pull a gun from Sterling’s pocket after the shooting and acknowledged Sterling bought the firearm days earlier for protection after learning other disc sellers in the region had been robbed."

Had he not resisted he would be alive and selling contraband CD's today. Or more likely be in jail for carrying a pistol as a felon.
