Last combat troops leave Iraq - another Obama promise kept

I promise you, there are more combat troops deploying to replace them. But hey, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Now, let the Occupation begin, if you leave 50,000 behind... it's not over..

I was just about to say this. How is the promise kept if our troops are still over there?

I love when civilians speak on things they have no idea what the hell they are talking about.

THEY CANT PULL OUT EVERY SINGLE SOLDIER THERE...it is a gradual thing.

So the leftwingnut that posted the OP is a liar, right? By YOUR own words ....:eusa_whistle:

What? What? WHAT?

Are you suggesting that our politicians - Obama - is lying to us?

Say it ain't so!!

What actually makes me laugh (and cry) is the total gullibility of the American people. Wow. Just wow.

This is all so confusing to me.

Am I mistaken or did Candidate Obama say he would bring "the troops" home from Iraq in eighteen months? If he did say that, then "the troops" implicity means all the troops.

Now I hear that all the combat troops are leaving Iraq but fifty thousand troops are staying behind. Can anybody clarify this rather confusing situation for me? Do the 50,000 troops who are staying behind have weapons? If so, do they have ammunition for them? If so, are they combat trained? And if so, what is the difference between them and the so-called "combat troops" who left Iraq today? And if there is no definable difference, what's with the semantic two-step?

And has anyone said what's gonna be with all the troops who are withdrawn? Are many of them "stop-loss" holdovers? If so will they finally be released to go home now to no jobs? And, oh yeah, what's the story with Iran lately? And North Korea? Any coincidental possibility we'll be needing about 100,000 troops for deployment in those places any time soon?

I'm just asking.

its the same time-line bush put in place

what a surprise you want to give obama credit for something he had nothing to do with"

There was a reason Fox did not televise the departure from Iraq. The only station that was able to televise the troops leaving Iraq was NBC:

The network had, in Olbermann's words, "a world exclusive" with NBC News chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel and his cameraman Craig White, live, embedded with the final convoy to leave Iraq. White was David Bloom's cameraman in April, 2003, when the NBC News anchor died during the U.S.-led invasion. Seven years later, Engel and White used the so-called Bloom mobile to report the final troop departure.

Said Maddow at the top of the 9pmET hour, "The reason no one else in all of TV and all the world is able to bring you the image that we've been able to broadcast ... and no one else can show you footage like this is because NBC has technology to do this like no one else has."

Fox News first mentioned the troop movements during "Special Report" at 6:10pmET, led with the story and reported it extensively during FOX Report at 7pmET. No mention was made during "The O'Reilly Factor" which is pre-taped earlier in the evening. Shepard Smith anchored a live update at 8:12pmET during "The Factor." Coverage was sporadic during "Hannity" at 9pmET and "On the Record" at 10pmET.

HOw many are in korea or viet nam?

Why we're in some places 30-50-75 years after the last bomb was set off is just a testament to the military being as big a government bureaucracy as any domestic program. Why they are still in Europe ,Korea and Japan while we're in such dire straits; I don't see the need for, I know it takes time to draw down an operation but there is no "Iraq war over" as long as there is still 50000 troops there and violence is still going on, there is no descent exit strategy out of that colossal **** up.
