Except for the fact that it was a Bush promise. The troop draw-down to 50,000 was a 2008 Bush deal with the Iraqi Government. This was not an Obama deal. There are still 50,000 American troops in Iraq and they will continue to see combat.

Vietnam?? are you serious??? None except for maybe some old POWs. Anyway what does that have to do with it being an occupation force now? I am pretty sure that conditions in Iraq and Korea are a little different.

I really do not know what has changed. The ability for the troops to react may be different and I am sure the rules of engagement have changed. I really hope that this political move does not endanger the troops as others have done. I really hope that we are in a position to leave. We as a country have not finish a conflict since WWII.
