It failed all of that and there are no reasonable expectations for them to achieve that - so if we go by war goals achieved, Russia got beat.

The Russian military has been weakened to a point that they could easily be taken by a country with a equally large military. Yes, Russia may gain some territory out of the deal, but they have been shown as paper lions.
