And to think Abrego Garcia could have been deported months ago to Costa Rica, which is what the government offered and Costa Rica said they would take him. But only on the condition that Garcia surrender his right to a fair trial and plead guilty. He said he would go, but could not plead guilty.

So the government wouldn't deport him, instead trying through a series of African countries to punish him. However each of the African countries said "no we don't want him".

So now with no deportation pending while the case(s) civil and criminal, he's a free man.

That wasn't a smart move by the administration.
