This writer went to Governor Kasich's Pennsylvania Town Hall today at Villanova University. The experience reaffirmed to me that Governor Kasich is a super human being he really cares about people and is a really nice guy and he would definitely be a great President for he is responsible, wise and he approaches the job of President correctly by this it is meant his focus is to work with people of both parties it is not about just implementing his agenda he is prepared to engage in the give and take that working with people necessitates. But John Kasich's campaign is on the wrong path its got failure written all over it because it isn't accurately gaging what the American electorate is looking for this election cycle. The American electorate is "angry" and has "run out of patience" because America doesn't work for them so the American voter is looking for a strong fighter not just someone committed to bringing change but a change agent that will bring unprecedented battle to Washington to fix things.
The Kasich campaign doesn't get it that the way a huge portion of the electorate views Governor Kasich is that he is this guy that acts like a Mahatma Gandhi figure, a beatnik that talks about all we need is love brothers and sisters to fix our problems, a guy that is out of it that lives in his own world. These Americans want a candidate that lives in this world, that they can identify with as strong and that will fight for them and deliver for them! John Kasich has the make-up these voters are looking for because he is a fighter he takes on the establishment at times but he isn't conveying it these voters need to see him throw some punches. He doesn't have to engage in name calling or get in the gutter with personal attacks but he has to show he can justly hurt people.
Governor Kasich shows glimpses of this fighter side of him at the Pennsylvania Town Hall he rightly said America doesn't need a policy banning all Muslims coming into the U.S. because a lot of Muslims are good people and many Muslim countries are our allies Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan (Jordanian pilot on a mission against ISIS crashed and was captured and burned alive by ISIS). And Governor Kasich gets close in his campaigning to showing this quality but just stops short in establishing it. For instance he said in the PA town hall, he is the only candidate left in the race that can win in the General Election then he moves on to another subject. He needs to answer that question he needs to finish this argument and other arguments on why he is the best candidate for the job and stop being so sensitive about how it impacts other candidates. He should have followed up on his point about he being the only one that can win the General Election because the American people will never trust that Ted Cruz can govern his Senate record not only contains red flags on this issue his shutting down the government with no hope of gaining anything from it and his effort to not raise the debt ceiling which if occurred would cause a world-wide economic collapse but red flags that jump out at people and beat them over the head to move them away from voting for this guy. Governor Kasich should have followed up by saying the American electorate will never elect Donald Trump president the majority of Americans have seen enough from Mr. Trump to know that his character is unacceptable for the job. Mr. Trump's trait of engaging in personal attacks against people that oppose him is a real problem this will create an environment where he won't be able to get people to help him accomplish needed things; Mr. Trump has a worrisome moral code for instance first Mr. Trump says he will order the U.S. military to engage in torture against terrorist prisoners then when told this is against U.S. law U.S. generals will refuse such orders then he says okay I won't issue such orders but I will seek to change the law to allow torture. This is morally wrong because if U.S. allows torture our enemies now and in the future will torture U.S. prisoners they get their hands on they won't be moved if U.S. law limits torture to ISIL prisoners, U.S. interrogators will not be able to guarantee the torture inflicted won't kill prisoners and when this happens the American people will be responsible for murder and torture leaves prisoner permanently disfigured and disabled permanent signs in the world that stokes anti-Americanism. Mr. Trump is rash he is too much a wing it person one cannot trust such a guy with the power of the Presidency. Even last night he showed this rashness, Mr. Trump said last night that for the problem that American corporations have a trillion plus dollars of foreign profits parked outside the U.S. he would cut a deal with Congressional Leaders in ten minutes to solve this problem. He is such a foolish person causing this money to be returned to the U.S. isn't the only concern that matters also not incentivizing more U.S. corporations to move their operation off-shore is a concern which lowering the tax rate on these profits will cause such an increased exodus what is needed is an overhaul of the entire U.S. corporate tax code.
Governor Kasich offers a good foreign policy vision for serious security threats for America "the get in and get out policy". I would offer a few minor points to make his policies on this subject more virtuous. The Kurds have proven themselves not fully trustworthy as our allies they clearly have as their top agenda forming a country of Kurdistan out of Northern Syria, Northern Iraq and southern and eastern Turkey this was evidenced by them attacking our allies of Non-Islamic State anti-Assad Forces in towns in northern Syria when the Russian Air force attacked these towns; U.S. policy on the Kurds should now be we will only give the Kurds weapons and ammunition and air power assistance to protect them from attacks from ISIS but other than that were done with you in fact we don't want your assistance in taking further territory from ISIS even more specifically America should advocate that Kurds stay out of the battle for Mosul that the Iraqi Army alone with the help of the U.S. will take care of the job. Governor Kasich you have said you don't want America involved in drawing countries borders in the Middle East well then you should also not want to arm the Kurds so their is an imbalance of power where they through force of arms redraw countries borders. Governor Kasich you need to be realistic and responsible in your get in and get out policy in so far that in Syria and in Libya if America goes in it may take three years to responsibly get out for we need to train and leave a security force comprised of people from the respective country to maintain in the area we leave so the territory doesn't fall back into the terrorists or bad guys hands.
Governor Kasich campaigns he doesn't want to take the low road to the high office. If it is of any interest to the Kasich campaign my GPS indicates that there is only one road to the high office it is a toll road where you have to pay that you can prove to the American people that you're a strong fighter and won't be another politician with lofty promises and then never delivers!
