Kansas GOP Governor Sam Brownback's Austerity Measures Backfire

So if you gut education and all the other services is that going to make them flock to your state? Talk about turning people away.

So now Kansas will have to either cut every program the middle class and working poor need to survive or raise taxes... What could he have possibly based this massive failure on? Did he not see this coming? What exactly was he thinking? It never had a chance.

What government programs do the middle class need to survive?

Passing Obama's American Jobs Act would be a great start.

Everybody in Kansas pays income tax and Agri-Biz is targeted by the low information radical left as some sort of "corporate evil" when it feeds the rest of the freaking Nation. Corporations ain't your enemy you freaking nut case hysterical lefties. Government bureaucratic craziness is.

Seems like the low information voters keep electing this guy. They keep believing the same fear mongering rhetoric about how the jobs will just come flowing in if the wealthy special interest get their tax cuts, Its turned out that the state isn't attracting much of anything. Perhaps they will someday see the light. Maybe not.

Where are the austerity defenders?

Right here, asshole.

I live in Kansas.

This is more political bullshit than anything and the anti tax cut crowd is playing it up bigtime.

Kansas has always done fine. Even when asswipe Sebelius was here.

The whole education thing is a continuation of a boiling issue of 20 years. The pro "throw money at it" (you should see the two new high schools we just built in JoCo...each kid is issued a ******* laptop). The democratic spending formula has totally fucked the rural schools though.

But the bastard mods and libs can't whine hard enough.

The state is attracting plenty.

This is just another case of living where the bullshit flys. You pricks live off the mainstream media feeding you smoke up your asses.

Kansas was rocking even when Obama was ruining things.

Spending a half a trillion dollars to increase or maintain government jobs is not the answer.

I do too. He keeps thinking he can educate a total ******* moron like you.

Poor bastard. He'll never learn.

They fucked things up in Kansas. A lot of the businesses that the Kansas side promised tax cuts to if they hired a certain amount wouldn't do it (Applebee's for example) so they moved back to the Missouri side. Heck, Sprint built that real nice headquarters in Kansas and I think it's like 50% full. The only thing good in that state is Sporting KC.

Reality will smack them in the face once again.

So the thinking is that if you tell people they'll have to pay more taxes they'll flock to your jurisdiction and open businesses.
Democrats should not be allowed to vote.

Ah, this red blooded conservative is advocating for Communism.

I thought liberals were the evil communists?

Austerity is just plain dumb. Sorry, but a great nation is built on infrastructure, science, r&d investment and education. Sure, I agree with less regulation in some areas, but to equal that to starving these 4 areas is just plain suicidal.

More money for infrastructure
More money for science
More money for r&d investment
and finally let's consider fixing our educational system for the better.

Anything less is bad leadership.

If dumb Austerity is so great...Why not get rid of the highway tax and stop funding infrastructure. We all know that our country would slide into the shitter if we done so.

This is so totally stupid.

Applebee's was trying to extract huge concessions from the cities it was looking to relocate to.

At the same time, Ward Parkway office space got real cheap.

Sprint has been dying for 15 years. They built that campus that long ago about the time they went through all that merger hell.

So....no call there.

On the other side, the Mayor of K.C.K. took a big risk and built a NASCAR track. I was against it and didn't believe it would do well.

It does well and the area around there is booming (and has for almost 10 years). They are still building at the Legends.

You guys have no clue.

The Legends is a success but everything else is a failure out there.

Like what ?

Applebee's was jerking Johnson Country around.

The Sprint Campus is a non-issue. It was built a long time ago. They've talked about turning it into a four year school (building off of a very good Community College JCCC...one of the best in the region if not the nation).
