Kamala Harris Dealt Blow by Home State Newspaper

Published Oct 22, 2024 at 4:41 PM EDTUpdated Oct 22, 2024 at 8:50 PM EDT

Vice President Kamala Harris has been dealt a blow by a major newspaper in her home state of California after The Los Angeles Times editorial board was reportedly blocked from endorsing her by owner Patrick Soon-Shiong.

Harris was conspicuously absent from a list of endorsements published by the paper last week. Progressive positions on ballot measures and the campaigns of Democratic candidates, like Congressman Adam Schiff's run for U.S. Senate, were endorsed.

The endorsement article also suggested that the presidential race was "the most consequential election in a generation" despite not mentioning which candidate the board preferred.

In a separate opinion article, Letter Editor Paul Thornton referenced Harris by writing that the "office-seekers and ballot measures" the board weighed in on "didn't just fall out of a coconut tree."

Reporting is not done in some sort of vacuum. The concept of "objectivity" is just that; a concept. It describes a state that does not effectively exist. Expecting some kind of absolute truth from journalists is childish. The public needs to grow up if it thinks that any source of information can be completely reliable for accurate relaying of anything like the majority of stories out there.

The owner of the LA Times is a Trumptard

The Editor resigned over the interference
Although he did try and get a position in the Trump administration, he and his family were major donors to the Hillary Clinton campaign during the 2016 election. That was done before he bought the LA Times. Got any actual evidence other than the fact that he refused the LA Times to endorse the VP? I mean, how does a "Trumptard" get to be in charge of the LA Times, which is left-leaning in its reporting, and that hasn't changed since he took over? Who are the conservatives writing for that newspaper?

The owners daughter says the support was pulled over Harris's support of "Israel's war".

Now I might nit pick at calling it "Israel's war" but it's not our war to be supporting or not. In the idea that she continues the support of these wars seems a valid reason to pull support of her.

I would think this might not be something the right is happy over, the Times coming out against supporting the war but we should butt out.

The war machine wins no matter which uniparty candidate wins. Funny how that always happens and so few Americans seem aware.
