The ending is perplexing as you don’t know if this was an actual story about a man that has been kicked around his entire life - then goes psycho and gets revenge on society

Or

Was the entire thing all in his head , while he was rotting away at Arkham

You don’t even know if he is the real joker

I usually hate Joaquin Phoenix but think he was outstanding

How is it even possible that he could avoid all those cops and sneak into the opera to find Wayne ?
Also it would be near impossible to sneak right outside their mansion
