So when you read "apes" the first thing you thought of was black people.........interesting.
When you say "Apes", we know it's racist. Come on, Ray, why do you keep denying your own racism if you really think it's something to be proud of.
CEO's don't design cars dummy. What I'm telling you is what my mechanic told me. American cars are built with substandard parts. That's why you can only get a 30,000 mile warranty on them.
You don't know where my car was built because Toyota, like all Japanese car manufacturers, have many plants in the US with non-union workers. There is no auto union in Japan that compares to the UAW.
The Japanese only assemble cars here to get around Tariffs Reagan imposed in the 1990. The design, parts procurement, etc. is all done in Japan.
Again, you could make your argument effectively if you had Detroit losing out to people who embraced your Libertarian Dream of fucking over working people... but they lost out to people who give the working man a better shake..
Yes, that is their total compensation. They get outstanding benefits that the companies have to pay for, so they must be included in the cost of an employee. But in the comparison, they did the same with Japanese workers. Pay and benefits.
As for foreign CEO's, they are not all that far behind American CEO's, and certainly don't earn so much less that they could manufacture a better automobile. But since you refuse to read links, a little excerpt
One view of Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn’s
Carlos Ghosn? that doesn't sound like a Japanese name.
I used to read everything about American vehicles becoming competitive with Asian designed cars. This was after the two gas shortages. I believed them. Kept purchasing American cars as a patriot. What a sucker. Many Car dealers remain shysters. Many Car repair shops the same. And the car still broke down right after the warranty expired. The American companies could not keep up with designing and building new engines and transmissions. Then the final piece of all the info on autos that was withheld came about when Obama saved GM. Every GM retiree benefits from about 3 thousand dollars a vehicle added to the cost of their product. So to compete, there needs to be cutbacks in areas. Ford and Chrysler has theirs also. The auto companies even blew money purchasing other companies when they needed to modernize their products decades ago. It is hard to forgive when all you have to do is go to a car dealer and feel the agita build up when purchasing a vehicle. Game after game after game after game is played. And then the no bull dealers who give you one price, but higher. American car companies are good with adding gimmicks to the cars though. Trucks with so many lights, they qualify for a lighthouse as an example. You need to wear sunglasses when looking at one at night.
Years ago I had a Granger delivery to a Chrysler plant. They couldn't fit it all in my trailer, so they had to put the remainder in a box truck.
When I got to the plant to check in, nobody was there, so I walked around and found about four guys having a BS session. I asked them who I talked to about a delivery, and they told me Fred! Okay, where is Fred at? He's in his office, but I wouldn't bother him if I were you, he's sleeping, and you'l be here all day if you wake him! They all started to laugh.
I laughed with them as I know how people like to kid drivers, but when I got to the office, there was a guy with his head down on his desk actually sleeping. So I took their advice, I didn't bother him. After a half hour passed, one of the guys said he was going to wake Fred for me. When he came out of the office, the rest was like a comedy skit:
This stuff doesn't come to these docks, this is a millwright shipment, and if we unload it here, the millwright people can file a grievance against me. You have to use the millwright docks.
Okay, so where are the millwright docks, and I'll deliver it there.
They're on the other side of the building, but you can't use those docks either.
Why not?
Because those docks don't work.
So now what do I do?
I don't know, I'll have to call the union stewart and discuss that with him. But he doesn't come in for another hour.
Me and my partner spent the entire morning and part of our afternoon to get unloaded while they bickered back and forth about these union regulations. If I took the same delivery to any other non-union company, they would have had us unloaded in less than an hour.
My employer charged them for all the detent time for me and my coworker. They didn't care, the company couldn't do a thing to them. They're union. And charades like this is also part of the cost of a US automobile.
