Years ago a coworker of mine told his story about his wife. He worked full time, but she worked par time at a convenience store. His wife and coworkers were having a discussion on how hard it was to make ends meet, and that's why she was working there. One other coworker stated she was doing it all wrong. Her husband worked at the GM plant, and we all know what kind of money employees there earned. But she went to welfare and told them her husband left her with the house and kids. They showered her with all kinds of government goodies to support her and the kids.

The husband never went anywhere. They never tracked him down or asked for validation of her story. They just processed the paperwork and that was that.

Theses kinds of scams go on all the time, but only the scammers would dream up these plots. In the meantime, we taxpayers are on the hook paying for the incompetence of our government.

The only reason they were producing gas guzzlers is because fuel was low and they were popular at the time. If you took those CEO's salaries and reduced them to lets say 200K a year, and divided the rest among blue collar employees, it would only amount to a buck an hour or so. So your theory is totally flawed.

In order to stay competitive and pay union wage, cuts had to be made. Those cuts were in engineering and quality of parts. That's why my Jap car never breaks down, and my last American made car, my mechanic drove it more than I did.
