But by what authority can the President dictate where the Olympics will be held?

There is no state with as much open ground like California. I heard they just cleared 30,000 acres. Even got rid of all the buildings so people could throw javelins and stuff.

All kidding aside, the Olympic's Rifle and Pistol competition will violate California's gun laws.

Move it to Houston. Houston has the Galveston beach area for the runners; the triathlon. As far as stadiums... Houston has:

Minute Maid Park (baseball stadium)
Toyota Center (basketball stadium)
NRG (Football stadium)
Shell Energy Stadium (soccer stadium)
Astrodome Stadium
Astro Arena
Convention Center in Downtown Houston- Hotel attached

Dallas does not have a lot of stadiums for hosting an olympics game. That could be why Dallas has never asked to host it. Dallas is land locked with no beach for runners. Houston has asked to host it several times because Houston has all the stadiums it requires, it is poised for hosting an Olympics game.

Dirty Blue Obstacle: The democrats run the United States Olympics as they are the only ones on the American Olympics Committee. They will only chose blue cities to host it. They will not, and have NEVER EVER chosen a red city to host it. The cities they chose to host it have to go before the National Olympics Committee to pitch it. Only blue cites in America are EVER chosen to pitch for hosting the Olympics in America.
