It is ok for the government to give subsidies to farmers, because they own millions of dollars worth of land. However, if the government gives assistance to poor people, it just encourages them to not work for people like farmers, and that is bad for the economy of the rich.To simplify, the conservative handbook says: "Rich people=good.
