Hegseth Confirmation Battle Heats Up With New Ad Targeting Joni Ernst

6 Dec 2024 ~~ By Reagan Reese

Building America’s Future, a conservative nonprofit, is pouring half a million dollars into an ad buy to support Pete Hegseth in his battle to be confirmed as Trump’s next Secretary of Defense, the Daily Caller learned first.
The nonprofit’s ad will run on national TV but will also specifically target digital platforms across the state of Iowa, according to a press release obtained by the Daily Caller. Republican Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst is one of the senators who is threatening Hegseth’s confirmation chances. She has indicated that she was still undecided on her vote, despite a long meeting together.
“America needs a Defense Secretary who knows what it means to fight, and understands the price of freedom. Pete Hegseth is a patriot, a decorated combat veteran and a warrior who will stop at nothing to keep America safe,” the ad reads.
“The Deep State is trying to stop his nomination, but Pete isn’t backing down. Call your senator today and urge them to confirm Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense,” the ad concludes, providing the number for the U.S. Capitol Switchboard.
Since Trump nominated Hegseth to be his Defense Secretary, the decorated veteran has come under scrutiny for his past, which includes a 2017 investigation into claims he sexually assaulted a woman, though no charges were ever filed. Some news outlets have published stories claiming that the former Fox News host had abused alcohol. The New York Times obtained and published a 2018 letter from Hegseth’s mother, who called out her son for his alleged mistreatment and belittling of women. Hegseth’s mother told Fox News on Wednesday that she had sent the email in “haste” and apologized for sending it two hours later.
That’s what a smear looks like. It’s a couple anonymous nuggets, usually from disgruntled people who were fired for cause, who are jealous or want a little bit of retribution, and so they peddle stuff to reporters who are not interested in the truth. They’re interested in smearing someone who supports Donald Trump’s agenda,” Hegseth said on the Megyn Kelly show, denying the allegations brought against him.
Amid the allegations and negative press, Hegseth has continued to meet with Senators in an attempt to win over their vote. While the Defense Secretary pick has made progress, and the president-elect has continued to support his nominee, Ernst has still declined to back Hegseth.

Commentary:
As we have seen time and time again many of our war fighters coming back from Nam, Afghanistan and Iraq went through bouts of PTSD. Drinking, divorces etc were the result and seen in many of our returning troops.
The fact that Pete Hegseth has been able to turn this around to become a successful and maintain his status in the military while supporting his fellow veterans and soldiers.
Joni Ernst should applaud Pete Hegseth's accomplishments not detract from them. I’m not saying Joni doesn’t have her place in government or Trump's administration, or because she’s a woman… we need a military that destroys not swing purses.
Here's something we know about Joni Ernst's military combat history She was company commander of the Iowa National Guard’s 1168th Transportation Company during its tour of active duty in Kuwait and southern Iraq, from February 2003 to April 2004. But the unit was never in a firefight, or for that matter attacked at all; it delivered supplies, and later, guarded the front gate and ran perimeter patrol at their home base outside Kuwait City, Camp Arifjan.
The piece goes on to allege that Ernst’s military experience does not satisfy the “average citizen’s idea of combat duty,” citing “real combat veterans”. Nothing stellar and she's definitely not GI Jane.

Yep/ Trump and his administration have an aggressive agenda so he cannot be played as was in his first term and he already lost his desired AG. The Establishment taste blood so if there are consequences for their careers they may realize that Trump isn't going to bend for every nomination. Without him, they don't have these majorities.

I remember a day when Ernst was considered a "conservative."

That was up until she defended same-sex marriage. That pissed off a lot of people in that state across the Mississippi River from me.

Like Trump did with McCain?

I guess the thought of getting primaried out and having to work at McDonald's didn't appeal to her.

Wtf does that mean?

Trump is going to quit presidency if the Senate will deny him some nominees they don't like?

Meaning if Trump was not at the top of the ticket when they ran, those candidates would not have gotten as many down ballot votes.

That is what the poster meant. You can disagree, but that is what the poster meant.

Not that Trump is going to quit.

It is ok, it is not your fault. You are a lefty and most lefties are dumb as fuck, like Luigi Mangione.

Aaaand? How does it leverage them into nominating whatever disasterous nomination he wants?

They are going to be in office in January, Trump is going to be in office and no one is going anywhere anytime soon over some nominations.

No. Without him, the GOP don't have the senate and House to the degree they do.

Why are you so angry? You sound like a Canadian cop bitching about the fact that U.S police actually protect citizens Constitutional rights.

YES THEY DO.

Trump can go quit if he wants to, Vance will be President with exactly same House and Senate.

Are you suggesting if Vance would have been leading the GOP rather than Trump that the exact same results in the G.E in 2024 would have been realized?

She's compromised.

Someone has blackmail on her.

Any senator or congressman that claims to be American but sides with Democrats needs to be looked into.

I'm saying IT DOESN'T FUCKING MATTER.

Elections are over, people are ALREADY elected.
