jimbo fisher out at AnM

wow 70 million buyout. That's the news

Your tax dollars at work.

Imagine how many kids could go to college for free with that $70M? Might as well have started another Aggie Bonfire with it and burnt the money. Total waste.

The funny thing is that if this malfeasance happened anywhere else in government, there would be investigation on top of investigation into it. For college football, somehow it's just accepted as the costs of doing business.

Most of a coaches salary comes from rich boosters, tv network deals, and endorsements. It is not tax dollars.

The stadiums they play in...the utilities that pay for the stadiums, the branding of the teams, etc... are you seriously going to say that there is no tax money involved in propping up college foot ball?

Do you really think boosters are going to shell out $70M to someone who's not even coaching the team?

The boosters have a choice between keeping Fisher and shelling out big money. They make the choice.

The stadiums they play in also get used for other events on occasion. And the money generated by tv contracts, vendors, crowds of tens of thousands of one day tourists covers a lot. Not to mention a boost to the local jobs market with both temporary and permanent jobs.

And yes, I am saying there are not tax dollars in the $70 million buy-out.

BTW, this is not the most the boosters at Texas A&M have raised.

They gave $700 million to have Kyle Field refurbished.

Gee, and all this time I thought the University President, athletic directors, and boards of regents made the choice.

Good thing the boosters didn't install a mass murderer or noted racist since..."they make the choice".

Laughable attempt to legitimize the obscene costs.

LOL...another laughable attempt.

Yeah, and on this front, you're full of shit.

When will all of the money coming in start lowering tuition? Uh never. Right?

And the university does educate people. And the tax money is used for the students.

But what the boosters donate to, as long as it is legal, is none of our business.

Does the football team yield any benefit to the university? Apparently all of the gazillion dollars that it allegedly brings in goes to fund the football team...while tuition continues to cost more and more.

For the 2019-2020 season the Texas A&M football program had revenues totalling $55.7 million. Much of that into the General Fund.

I think whoever in the A&M hierarchy made that deal with Fisher should be fired WITHOUT a golden parachute

But Fisher is being paid off with private money from donors not tax dollars

The early buyout is being paid by private donors using private money

And its even higher than $76 mil because asst coaches get buyouts too

But its not tax dollars

Its cute you believe that. Somehow the public employee is magically paid with private donor money.

Fisher’s salary would be paid with tax dollars if he hadnt been fired

But he was terminated early and the buyout is coming from private donations
