The democrats followed the norms established after the abuse of the DOJ by Ex-President Richard Nixon. who resigned as he faced impeachment and conviction.

Democrats kept the white house at arms length from DOJ. So Biden, and any other democrat had no say in the release of the Epstein files.

That was purely up to the AG (Merrick Garland) who was overly cautious about doing anything that even had the appearance of impropriety.

Hence release the files while there was an active appeal of Epstein's co-conspirator (Maxwell) of her 2021 conviction going on.

The circuit court appeal wasn't rejected until 2024, and her appeal to the USSC in 2025. Which removed all possible reasons for not releasing the Epstein files.

the most prominent was Ghislaine's appeal to the supreme court, which started in 2022 then wast decided on until this year.
