Most of my ancestry is British but on my maternal side, one immigrated from Alsace-Lourainne, having been born in Bavaria. He came to the New World shortly after independence and became a naturalized citizen in 1824. He married a female descendant of Ethan Allen's brother.

Guy, we weren't discussing the stupidity of our current leadership.

We were discussing the stupidity of German leadership from 1914 to 1918. The one where they escalated a minor tiff about an assassinated nobleman into a global conflict that left millions dead, the world order in ruins, and eventually led to an even worse war that the Germans also started.

My ancestors became naturalized citizens here about 32,000 BC. Most "Prussians" (all Germans who are not Bavarians) and Bavarians have by the way not the very best relations. Everyone thinks Bavarians are stupid - but only Bavarians are proud to be stupid. So be proud to be stupid - this is in very most cases more wise.
