Jay Leno criticizes modern late-night comedy for alienating half the audience with partisan politics

To each his own. I found him very "unnatural" in his presentation. I don't think he is making fun of me because I do not fall into the category he is targeting as a subject of his "jokes." If he does he is failing miserably.
As defined by his success he cant be failure. Perhaps you dont know the difference

Many countries around the world have been funding the divide in America, comedians are just an offshoot of this dark money and influence. Ask yourself why it changed so rapidly since the 1990s, what changed globally at that period of time?

Let’s see the evidence for your claim that late night tv comedians are in the pay of imaginary dark money.

Which is what Trump wants. He wants all eyes on him. His narcissism is that all encompassing.
No, he uses the left media as a distraction machine, to which they fall for over and over and over. The left's outrage machine runs 24/7 with millions of Karen's and Kevins'.
You are sheep - and sheep are easy to manipulate and frighten.
He is just taking advantage of it.

What we are seeing is major shift in American thinking away form democrat progressive ideology and thats reflected in the ratings decline of left wing media of all types. Youre going to see an increase in cancelations of left wing media as their ratings drop.

Leno didn’t do politics much.

But I can still remember Johnny Carson starting a joke with
“California Governor Ronald Reagan said today…..”. Followed by a Long pregnant pause,……while the audience started laughing waited in advance of the punch line (which is whatever ridiculous thing Reagan said).

They dont receive money directly, their studio.and advertisers do.. They get in line with their.demands. "Make jokes about GOP,, NEVER Dems". This is especially true of Cali and NY Dems which are treated like endangered species.

He constantly made fun of Jimmy Carter, but he didn't dwell on it. He made a joke and moved on. Not bring on 4 more guests who all rant the same thing.
The left is self imploding and I am glad I am seeing it happen.

Jay Leno had a great show devoid of politics and very entertaining.

I remember working at the airport, my first job after college, and trying to hurry up and finish my night duties so I could run into the pilots lounge and watch his monologue. I especially loved Monday nights, "Time for headlines!" I still remember those.

For those of you saying "You watched TV on the clock?" Yea, I did. I worked the overnight shift. I was the only employee on duty on the entire airport property besides the stand-by fire department crew. My boss knew I slept, I even had a bunkroom that used to be used by pilots but was used by me to sleep on slow shifts. I was required to BE THERE overnight. I didn't have to be awake.

I stopped being interested in late night shows after Letterman retired. All the host after then buying large are just all about negative Republicans, negative Trump. It isn’t funny by and large. Basically they have become the MSNBC of late show comedy hours. Gutfeld can be funny, but that’s all focused on negative Democrats/liberals. Same old crap gets boring.

I'm tempted to agree. The partisan rhetoric tends to make me uninterested.

"I read that there was an analysis done of your work on ‘The Tonight Show’ for the 22 years and that your jokes were roughly equally balanced between going after Republicans and taking aim at Democrats. Did you have a strategy?" Trulio asked.
I'm not tempted to agree. I didn't even have to think about it for a second. I totally agree from the first second. Also, the FCC has rules against being biased and giving one party more air time than another. The dominoes are falling.

Colbert had a staff of 200 employees, and he still had lame jokes.
