Former FBI Director James Comey announced his candidacy for US president today. This announcement came on the heels of his recent indictments for making false statements to Congress and obstruction of justice.
In his announcement statement Comey said, "I heard somewhere that sitting presidents cannot be tried for crimes committed before their election, and I figure this is my best shot to avoid prison."
When asked who his running mate might be, Comey suggested "Well, [John] Brennen or [James] Clapper might be motivated to run soon too."
