Jack Smith tells Congress he wants to testify publicly

Bezos cowardice stems from a desire to protect his business interests from a petulant prez who has already proven he will abuse his power by attacking those he sees as his enemies. That doesn't excuse what Bezos has done to neuter the Post's editorial board but it does explain it.
The Post editorial board neutered themselves when they got caught spreading Russian disinformation paid for by the Clinton campaign and dnc…and allowed their tds to control them

Readership dropped….Bezos needed to try and clean up his investment.

TRANSLATION: "WAPO has met the enemy and it is them"...all you did was define trump as being more qualified as a journalist than president and bezos recognizing that.

the only one(s) that have ever excused WAPO for anything/everything are white liberals.

We actually didn't have to wait for Smith to go to the Hill to know why it was a mistake for R's to demand he testify. All anyone needed to do was read the indictments of trump or Vol. I of Jack's report on the criminal activities involved in trump's attempted subversion of the Constitution following the 2020 election.
TRANSLATION: "we would/should have went with this earlier but the epstein debacle seemed so much juicier"

You misunderstood my remark.
No, I understood it perfectly. They need to release the testimony so there won’t be any ambiguity. Full transparency.

Weird, I could of sworn the OP had his statement in the press

Try again dembot
Did we hear the entirety of Smith's testimony in that hearing, you moron? The hearing lasted nine hours, brain challenged dope.

He hadn’t testified when the OP was written

Not sure what you are talking about

Smith is still asking to be allowed to testify publicly.

Jack Smith’s lawyers ask Jordan for open hearing after closed-door testimony

After appearing in a closed-door deposition with the House Judiciary Committee earlier this week, Jack Smith, the former special counsel who led the criminal cases against President Donald Trump, still wants the chance to defend his work in a public hearing – and defend himself against continued Republican attacks.

Attorneys for Smith are pressing for their client to be allowed to testify in an open forum in a new letter to House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, obtained first by POLITICO.

“[We] reiterate our request for an open and public hearing,”
Smith’s lawyers, Lanny Breuer and Peter Koski, wrote to Jordan. “During the investigation of President Trump, Mr. Smith steadfastly followed Justice Department policies, observed all legal requirements, and took actions based on the facts and the law. He stands by his decisions.”

If he had anything to hide why would he keep insisting he be allowed to tell his story out in the open? As importantly, why are the R's preventing that from happening?

He knows that an open hearing has 5 min rule for questions so he can answer all the dem setup questions while stone walling the republican questions.

Jack Smith has agreed to testify in front of Jordan's committee, but publicly. I believe another victim did this and they wouldn't hold a public hearing. This should be interesting.

Jack Smith tells Congress he wants to testify publicly

Former special counsel Jack Smith is asking that he be allowed to appear publicly after House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) demanded his testimony.

“Given the many mischaracterizations of Mr. Smith’s investigation into President Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents and role in attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election, Mr. Smith respectfully requests the opportunity to testify in open hearings before the House and Senate Judiciary Committees,” his attorneys wrote in a letter to Jordan.

Jordan requested a transcribed, closed-door interview with Smith earlier this month, accusing the former special counsel and his team team of launching “politically motivated prosecutions” into Trump and trying to “silence” him during the campaign.

Smith’s effort to appear publicly would require the blessing of the Justice Department, with his attorneys saying he would need guidance so he doesn’t violate any rules regarding grand jury secrecy. He would also likely be asked to answer questions about the Mar-a-Lago investigation. The special counsel’s final report on that case has not been released.

“He is prepared to answer questions about the Special Counsel’s investigation and prosecution, but requires assurance from the Department of Justice that he will not be punished for doing so,” Smith’s legal team said.
put him under oath and let him answer congressional questions.

Trump and the Republicans should count themselves lucky that Jack Smith has more integrity than all of them combined.

He could just leak the report and all the evidence.

Well, we know this is utter nonsense, since he apparently took the Republicans to school and back.

Why would he stonewall questions from the R's. He is eager to tell the factual story of the investigation. Facts the R's don't want to hear.

AI Overview

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals has ordered U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon to rule by early January 2026 (within 60 days of November 3, 2025) on motions to unseal Volume II of Special Counsel Jack Smith's report on Donald Trump's classified documents, citing "undue delay" in her handling of the requests from transparency groups like the Knight First Amendment Institute. If she fails to act or denies the release, the appeals court is expected to intervene further, potentially compelling a decision or even ordering the release itself, as they've previously limited her authority in the case.

A reminder, he officially asked to publicly testify beforehand, and now officially asked AGAIN to publicly testify.
Because rather than having something to hide, he wants the details of his prosecution of the Orange Menace to be known to the public.
