Its ok to beat your wife in Russia

Backed by the church and political establishment. We frown on this in the UK. I expect its the same in the US.
It's fairly common here in the US.

Difference is there are consequences in the US and the rest of the civilised world.
And they are working so well to prevent the problem. Funny that you think a country that has been described to have a domestic violence epidemic is civilized.

It is a difficult problem to solve. I don't think decriminalization is a very effective way to combat it. As I understand it, these laws were just implemented last year in Russia. The sentences were harsher before the new laws took effect. Not sure the rationale behind it.
It seems to be wrapped up in some religious mumbo jumbo about submissive wives and so on. There is no support for battered wives in Russia and in fact they are treated as the problem.

Burger King Russia used rape victim's likeness in social media ad
This is how bad things are in Russia.
A rape victim went on tv to talk about her ordeal and Burger King used her image and words to sell burgers.
Would they do that anywhere else in the world ?
In fairness to the Russian people, whom the OP is intending to slander, it was public outcry that got the ads pulled.
More likely it was BK in the US slapping them down.

Russian victims of domestic abuse forced to pay perpetrator’s fine

They aint too big on equality or womens rights.

Backward *****.

It is a bad law, but hardly makes domestic abuse legal. The law says 15 days in jail or pay a $380 fine if the offense was only once in a give year. Again bad law, but a habitual wife or child abuser is going to regularly beat their wife and/or child. So it won’t apply to them.

Domestic Violence is nothing more thsn a Politically Correct term intended to criminslize and demonize Men for reminding women and children of their proper place in Society and the Household.

If an action or event meets the qualifications for Battery or Assault, charge the individual with that. Oh, those standards are too high to get a conviction regularly; too damn bad.

So what's the problem?? ..... :dunno:
Well Sunni Man, if you really believe it's okay to beat your wife, it should also be okay for the wife to beat her husband, but with a heavier object than a stick, since he's stronger and generally larger than her, perhaps with a claw-hammer, that should do it.
