Repeating over and over again that domestic flights from Wuhan were stopped but international flights from the city were not stopped is just one more slander and propagandistic LIE told and believed by many Americans. In actual fact, there were hundreds of Westerners, including many American English teachers, businessmen, including workers & family members at the American Wuhan Consulate, who were trapped in that central Yangtze River city of 11 million people by the sudden closure of all exiting airport, bus and rail transport.

The Chinese government — at the request of Western governments including the U.S. — had to arrange for special flights to vacate foreign nationals. All this was covered in the Chinese and Western press at the time. You folks are utter and total asses.

The point of this OP “argument“ is to lie about and slander China. That is the main lesson here.

The Chinese government confronted an unknown situation that at first appeared to overwhelm their facilities in Wuhan. Despite some initial mistakes the country quickly decoded and published the Covid-19 DNA sequence and adopted extreme measures to battle what seemed a dangerous new pathogen.

The strict national measures adopted ultimately stopped the virus spread inside China completely. It took them less than three months to do it. Today their schools and factories are humming and the main danger is overseas reinfection.

Likewise, flight density from Shanghai was 80% in January and dropped to less then 10% by February. The article only presents a very one-sided and tendentious view of the changing events throughout the rest of China. It is true flights from and into China continued irregularly, just as it is true special flights to and from Wuhan continued. By early February most ChIna/U.S. flights were being canceled by U.S. airlines themselves. My wife’s Feb. 4 flight out of Beijing, for example, was canceled by American Airlines, and she ended trapped in China (caring for our newborn granddaughter) for several extra months. Similarly, there were hundreds of thousands of Americans in many different parts of China, as well as millions from other countries, and equal numbers of Chinese overseas, all of whom were struggling to escape or enter the country by one method or another.

This issue was NEVER one China could or should unilaterally decide. The Chinese side did not believe there were significant cases outside of Wuhan or the Province at first and was not about to immediately and arbitrarily stop all travel to and from Shanghai, Beijing, Guangdong or Hong Kong. There are well over a million Taiwanese businessmen alone living in China! Were they all to be prevented from leaving? You don’t seem to understand what you are asking for. China is a big country. Restricting domestic travel during the holiday season when workers normally return home was an extremely difficult and aggressive measure given the nature of mass labor mobility in China. It was also the best and most effective way to stop or slow any international spread. It is now suspected the virus was spreading in any case much earlier and undetected around the world.

In short, the lies and slanders about intentional Chinese spread of the virus are all propagandistic crap.

China new full well how contagious this virus was from the jump. Don't you remember the videos of the frantic efforts to build new hospitals in 7 DAYS with heavy machinery running 24/7?
