Authorities served multiple search warrants throughout the investigation and recovered several firearms and other evidence, the sheriff’s office said.

The drug deal that went wrong to end up with violence, was illegal in CA.
If it had not been illegal, then it would not have been a cash deal and not have been forced to be out in the sticks where crime was possible.

Go back in history to Prohibition.
With Prohibition we saw a 10 times increase in crime.
When we ended Prohibition, it all went away and crime dropped back to normal.

When you make activities illegal, that does not stop the activity, but instead increases the profits, so entices more into that illegal trade.
When you make activities illegal, then they can't take credit cards or checks, and it becomes cash only.
And large amounts of cash that can't be reported, can't be put into banks, etc., then entices robberies.
It will also entice turf violence.

But all addictive substances come from our own bodies making and using those drugs naturally, in order to manipulate our behavior.
Before we developed consciousness, our own pain and pleasure drugs were how our body maneuvered us into survival activities, like sleep, sex, eating healthy foods, etc.

The only danger comes from the fact the artificial drugs are stronger and can be counter to health.
But that does not mean the artificial drug itself is bad, just that we have to consciously be careful not to abuse them beyond what would be healthy.
For example, this society is way more stressful than normal.
So that interferes with normal sleep.
But consuming a gummy to help you sleep is not harmful, but beneficial.

Your logic makes no sense. Pot is legal in California but even so, 6 people were killed over a pot deal.

No amount of legalization is going to prevent criminals from trying to take over the industry. There are too many pot-growing countries south of the border who don't like the idea of potheads getting their pot from domestic sources. They'll either ramp up their smuggling or simply set up shop in the US and take control of domestic production.
