TALLAHASSEE — The staggering unemployment exploding on President Donald Trump’s watch would worry any incumbent running for reelection, but troubles in Florida are injecting an added dose of fear into a jittery GOP.

Already anxious about Trump’s chances in the nation’s biggest swing state, Republicans now are dealing with thousands of unemployed workers unable to navigate the Florida system to apply for help. And the blowback is directed straight at Trump’s top allies in the state, Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sen. Rick Scott.

Privately, Republicans admit that the $77.9 million system that is now failing Florida workers is doing exactly what Scott designed it to do — lower the state’s reported number of jobless claims after the great recession.

Swing state huh?

The only thing I see with you Progs is a massive raise in all taxes. State income tax, County income tax, City income tax, Massive increases in property taxes for businesses, houses and apartments. Sales tax increases, Drivers license taxes and fees increases, Gasoline taxes increases, energy tax increases, cable and satellite TV tax increases, and on and on. Then you will see millions of people with pensions in which many may be reduced from this problem, get the hell out of Dodge!

Wow.

What selfish people they have for politicians. All rick scott and republicans thought about was themselves and big business. Now the people of Florida are totally screwed.

Heaven forbid that big business actually property fund the unemployment system. Oh no, conservatives can't have that. It was more important for big business to not pay 2.2 billion in unemployment taxes.

I really hope people start waking up to what has been going on for so long and that it's now on steroids.

So what? What does NY have to do with Florida?

Did you actually read that article?

NY state didn't design a system designed to fail. That's what the conservatives in Florida did. It's right there in the article but I'm willing to bet you were too lazy to actually read it.

All you care about is your lame justifications and excuses.

It doesn't work anymore.

Oh right. Yeah, they designed it to fail. Get real. The number of claims is overwhelming the system just as it is in other hot spots. We are a tourist economy that has had to shut down.
Nothing more than another reporter making crap into something its not.

Working Floridians are gonna take it on the chin. They should thank their governor.

Like the man said, it's a shit sandwich, and all of those unemployed, and about to be unemployed, that can't access the site to even file a claim, and the ones that do, find out they're going to get a whole $275, aren't going to be lining up at the polls for conservatives in November.

Can you smell it?

Unemployment should be the LEAST of Florida's problems. The state and Federal government should be able to provide unemployment relief.

Can they do that?

It’s a nightmare? Huh

That's what the Republicans down there running away from Rick Scott as fast as they can are saying.

I guess they're all wrong to huh?

Damn, even little Marco sees this as a disaster.

Fast running out of excuses skippy.

This is Florida. Never underestimate the gop controlled government's ability to cheat. They will massively remove certain people from the voting rolls. They will close most voting places in certain areas. They will make it harder for people to vote by mail and will cut the number of days for voting.

My aunt used to live there. She was right, those "good old boys" aren't going to allow democrats to vote.

If people are smart, they will regularly check their voting status and make arrangements now to vote by mail in November. If they can.

Oh look!

Another lazy conservative who didn't read the article. Are all of you conservatives this lazy that you can't take a couple minutes to read a simple article?

Wow.

Here's a part of the article that says that's how it was designed by republicans and former republican governor rick scott.
