(Reuters) - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu bluntly told Barack Obama on Monday that he would never compromise on Israel's security even as the U.S. president sought to reassure him on Iran nuclear diplomacy and pressure him on Middle East peace talks.

In a White House meeting overshadowed by the Ukraine crisis, the two leaders avoided any direct clash during a brief press appearance but were unable to paper over differences on a pair of sensitive diplomatic drives that have stoked tensions between them.

He got over 70% in the last election. So far here hasn't been an Amendment to the Constitution allowing him to run for a third term. Now of course he would most likely receive a bi-partisan resistance to cutting such aid, but I still think that it should not be on the table, if they don't do what we want them to do. We could take those Billions and re-invest it into Our own country.

It was over 80%, over 90% in the first election.
But of course he would have to get Congress to vote it. And they're all up for re-election at some point. It isn't on the table because everyone knows it wont happen.
"Those billions" is about 2B a year. That would run the gov't for about 20 minutes.

You seem to be under the false impression that we give military aid to Israel for their benefit. That is flatly false. We give them aid for OUR benefit. Israel is a tiny nation in the most hostile corner of the entire planet. Hostile to western culture. Those nation over there fuel that hate to control their populous.

Israel gives them a very nice target that is NOT the US. They fight there constantly in ways that the public here simply would not permit nor would have the willingness to stay the course. In short, they do our dirty work for us and create a target that we don't really have to deal with.

Now, you can disagree with the effectiveness of that strategy but Israel certainly does provide a shitload of influence over its neighbors and keeps them somewhat in check. Without them there (or the connection that they have to the US) I wonder if the result might be a whole hell of a lot worse for the US and the world.

Too bad they always select presidents who kiss Israel's all - I would tell Israel to **** off, stop funding terrorists in Syria, and stop supporting the banker that the MSM calls the New Leader of Ukraine. THEN people would respect me, and what the political industry and the Israel's supporters think, no one would care.

This picture tells a thousand words - you can see Israel's president, a country that receives billions of dollars in US aid annually, not impressed to meet with Obama, and Obama jumping around him like a kid around Santa Clause. To me that says a lot, and I am angry that my nation has no president, only puppets controlled by external sources and those insurgents pretend to be not happy.

Israel is the default thing to talk about when there is a crisis and no solution that makes Obama look like he knows what to do.

Obama's reassurances don't mean squat and Netanyahu knows it. Too many lies have been told and there is no trust. Obama can't even tell Americans the truth.
