**** Israel! Can I say that again? **** Israel and its apartheid system. Israel is Germany in the 30's. Only this time, the Israeli right are the Nazis and the Pals are the Jews.

Even though I fully support Israel's right to exist and feel that blanket condemnations of all Israelis are only detrimental to the many decent and peace seeking Israelis and organizations like "Breaking the Silence", B'Tselem" etc., I see disturbing similarities between the Nakba and the Holocaust.

I can't help it that those who have been weaned on hyperbolic Holocaust lore are offended because that is not my intent.

What Norman Finkelstein has labeled "The Holocaust Industry" is relentless in demanding that everyone "Remember the Holocaust" but doing so is not easy when the persecuted have become the persecutors.

It's especially disturbing to know that without America's $ Billions, Israel couldn't build Settlements or the apartheid Wall or torment occupied Palestinians with impunity.

Briefly put, I don't think that unconditional aid to Israelis who build illegal settlements and engage in ethnic cleansing is in Israel's best long term interests or America's best interests.

From what I've read of what you've written, I think we're pretty much on the same page as far as supporting Israel's leftist humanitarian and peace groups (i.e. B'Tselem, "Breaking the Silence" etc) and condemning Right Wing, expansionist settlers and Israel's ethnic cleansers.

I have already characterized Israel as an advanced, vibrant and creative place but its reputation will always be tarnished for the ethnic cleansing of Palestine.

How quickly the brutally persecuted can become brutal persecutors.
