Interesting reading but I don't see anything on the scale of the christians. The Arab Muslims of course still have a closed society, so anyone bringing this kinda accusation would just be stoned or honor killed or something like that. But it'd never make it to court. Although its well documented Mo-mad was a child pedophile and child brides are common in many Arab Muslim countries.

My take just off the top of my head is that if there are a few pervs in the Judaic community, I wouldn't be surprised, every culture has a few. But my bet is it pales in comparison to the christian incidence of perversion.

Rape of children is simply unacceptable no matter which religion is practiced. I hope we all agree on that.

It is absolutely forbidden in Judaism -- both in terms of religious belief and the way the religious belief is practiced. It is loudly and clearly condemned by all of the Jewish people, regardless of their individual level of religious practice. Child molesters should be punished to the full extent of the law. Period.

Christians also loudly and clearly condemn the molestation of children. Unfortunately, this was both widely practiced within the priesthood and the Church decided to protect the molesters. This was eventually changed and rectified by the Christian people when it was discovered. At that point, the Christian people took a strong stand against it.

However, Muslims still widely practice and accept child molestation through child marriage. It is a broadly accepted practice in many nations and with many Muslim groups. In addition, there are some Muslim groups who widely accept and practice not only child marriage -- but child sexual slavery. These things are justified by appeals to religious beliefs. (In the West, Muslims are beginning to take a stand against this, and there are many women in Muslim countries who are also attempting to both raise awareness of this issue and stand against it. Sadly, they are often the recipients of death threats and persecution).

It is not the existence of child molesters in our communities which is important. All communities have individual in them who are sociopathic or otherwise harmful to our children. The differences are in the broad community acceptability, or lack, of these behaviours. And this is where Islam has some work to do.

Aside from a few of our more vociferous racist Arab Muslims on here ( Monty ? ) I'd say we can at least all agree that the children should be protected from those less civilized among us.

No religion is innocent of this one. Although some have a far bigger problem than others.

In todays society we have a few religions and cultures left that seem to cling to the idea that kinda behavior is OK. Islam being one of the main culprits. But Mormonism also comes to mind as does Catholicism. If I had to pick one at the top of the list I'd say it was a toss up between Islam and Catholicism, with Islam pulling away in the lead as they have thus far refused to acknowledge the problem within their own ranks.

I think for Islam its a norm vs for Catholicism its an aberration. Islam starting with Mo-mad is fraught with pedophiles. Virtually every child bride is pared with a pedophile.

Its high time the Arab Muslims face this grim truth about their leaders and their culture.
