The proper title should have been Islam is different from Christianity. Well duh! Just about anything negative said about Islam can be just as easily said about Judaism or Christianity at some point in their history.

This is like saying a political religion
or a political cult is not a religion.

It is MORE than just a religion when religion gets embedded into a govt, into judicial courts, into cults with military power.

But that doesn't mean it is no longer a religion.
So that part is a bit misleading.

I would have said it is not LIKE "other religions," and then explain what in Islam makes it so dangerous and vulnerable in getting tied to extreme political oppression, militant cults, and terrorist conspiracies.

The problem with Islam is that it invokes both the divine authority over natural laws that politics/govt is based on, and the divine authority over the scriptural laws of the Jews Christians and Muslims; but if these authorities are not checked by Christian scriptural authority and by Constitutional democratic principles, then it carries greater risk of abuse and oppression than a less politicized religion.

Christianity and Constitutionalist beliefs also get highly politicized in crossing over into govt; but these can be checked by invoking Christian and Constitutional laws to correct abuses and overreaches.

Once Islam is abused to take over govts and run them by tyranny, there is no built in check in Islam except if followers "happen to abide by and commit to" either church laws by the Bible (and will respond and comply with rebukes and corrections thereby) and/or democratic laws as in the Constitution or other given standards.

If Islamic militant leaders keep putting their authority first, before other laws that apply to all people, that is where we see violations of due process, separation of powers etc.

So this is what needs to be addressed, and it is a mix of religion with politics/govt.

Similar to the "divine right of Kings" that got so abused, Americans had to declare independence, fight wars, and establish a Constitution to protect against future tyrannical abuse of govt authority; the same checks that were built into the Constitution for similar reasons need to be applied to Islam and any other religion or political religion that otherwise can get embedded into govt at disastrous costs.

In the past, people complained of Christian religious and political beliefs getting pushed through govt; but now the complaints are equally about LGBT, socialist, and other liberal beliefs getting pushed through govt.

Again the common issue is political religions and beliefs being harder to police than "normal religions" that aren't as politicized and forced into public policy on everyone under penalty of law. We are having this same fight with both political parties pushing their political beliefs and opposing the other.

So this problem with political parties acting as political religions poses similar difficulties. Good news is: if we can fix the problem with our parties crossing the line between beliefs and govt, then the same solutions can fix the problem with Christianity, Islam and other religions being pushed through govt.

Some 1 billion people consider the Koran to be their holy book. Far more than the people who consider the Torah to be their holy book.

I have read the Quran all through, three times since 9/11 because I wanted to understand the motives of people who would commit suicide to kill thousands of innocent people. So I know the Quran a lot better than the bible.

Do I think that the Koran takes on material from other sources? Of course. The Koran refers to both the Old Testament and Jesus.

But you seem determined not to apply the same standards to the Bible as you do to the Koran.

To explain, I think the old testament of the bible is all made up Jewish myths, and it is not a message from God.
I do favour the teachings of Jesus as they are of a high moral tone. But I doubt the story of his miracles and his resurrection.
However the Quran is no where near a message from God and it is largely stolen from the bible. I think it is a tragedy that Muhammad was ever born because over 1.6 billion people are still duped by his lies, and there have been many wars because of him that are still going on today.
