What I want from you is to prove to me any concrete similarities between Trump and Hitler. I can scarcely believe this man would be anything close to Hitler, who murdered 6 million people.

So, as the question in the title asks, is Trump comparable to Hitler?

Rules:

1) No referring to Trump as anything except by his given name, which can be President Donald Trump, Trump, Donald Trump, Donald John Trump, Donald J. Trump, DJT, DT or Donald.
2) No insults.
3) All comparisons must be backed up with real, verifiable historic evidence in comparison with current policy actions or behavior being undertaken by the current administration.

It's kind of shitty to say well he hasn't 6 million jews yet so hes not hitler. Most people are aware that Trump has not killed 6 million jews. Do you think hitler became a leader after killing 6 million jews? What if he only kills 5 million jews? what about 6 million mexicans? can we compare him to hitler then? Trump is a crypto-fascist, not a conservative he says so himself.

Here is a list of the 14 traits of fascism Trump pretty much checks every box

The 14 characteristics are:

  1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism
Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

  2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights
Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

  3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

  4. Supremacy of the Military
Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

  5. Rampant Sexism
The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.

  6. Controlled Mass Media
Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

  7. Obsession with National Security
Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

  8. Religion and Government are Intertwined
Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

  9. Corporate Power is Protected
The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

  10. Labor Power is Suppressed
Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed .

  11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

  12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment
Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

  13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

  14. Fraudulent Elections
Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

It's because more people don't like him than like him.

Hillary was 2.8 million votes ahead..Add in the independents and that's over 10 million who voted against Trump.

That has little to do with the thread. Just because more people voted for Hillary than Trump does not make him Hitler.

Egads.

I didn't ask for a psychoanalysis either. Besides, how can you get away with #14?

He hasn't had an election while hes in power, so we have to just assume what will happen so you can have that one.

But with his lies about millions of imgaginary immigrants voting for hillary and him saying he wouldn't accept the results if he lost several times, and telling people the elections were rigged, before and after he won, due to a few bad polls, he's not exactly a lover of free and fair elections either

Sorry, going off of comments he made does not make Trump comparable to Hitler.

Perhaps I'm not being clear. I'm looking for historical parallels between Trump and Hitler. Not "because I think so and here's why" posts.
so just as I thought.... your argument is "trump isnt hitler until he kills tens of millions of people"...again its a shitty argument

Would you prefer Mussolini?

Trump is not Hitler. He's more like Biff from Back to the Future

It's a pretty effective argument. Because when you're comparing Trump to Hitler, you have to understand what Hitler did. Trump didn't engage in a Putsch, he didn't kill six million Jews, he doesn't believe in some twisted fantasy of a "Third Reich" or somesuch. Contrary to Hitler, who wanted to conquer, Trump wants America to keep to herself. Trump is nothing like Hitler whatsoever.

Hitler was a murderer first and foremost. And it's wrong to compare Trump, or anyone, to a mass murderer.

Are you denying that Hitler engineered the Holocaust?

To be fair, you're comparing Hitler at the end of his power, and trump at the beginning. He hasn't had time to enact the policies that would allow him to do all that other stuff. He has made it clear that he intends to though.

What "other stuff" are you referring to?

If you are going to start a thread concerning Hitler, you should at least find out what he did first.

At the beginning of Hitler's rise to power, nobody knew he was a murderer.

Really? Hitler blamed the Jews for all their problems. Trump blames the Mexicans and Muslims. Hitler demanded a registry of Jews even if they were legal citizens. Trump demanded a registry of Muslims, even if they are legal citizens. Like I said before, I think Trump is more like Biff from Back to the Future than Hitler, but it's still easy to make the argument that he is like both.

In other words, he has done nothing to warrant being compared to Hitler. All we needed from you.
